I saw on the news this morning that tonight there's going to be a 'Super Moon' happening. My daughter took a beautiful picture with some tree branches off to the side - sorry I don't know how to down load the pic. I hope you can enjoy the beauty. Here's a link also and I wonder if this kind of moon does affect behavior - both me and my daughters are extra energetic and perky lol. This is a description of what it is and I hope it's clear where you live to see it.

"A supermoon is bigger and brighter than an ordinary full moon. The reason: the moon's orbit around the earth is elliptical, not round. And so when the elliptical path passes closest to earth - as it will Saturday night - a full moon becomes 14 per cent wider and 30 per cent brighter than an average full moon. Not since 1992 has the moon passed as close to Earth as it will Saturday night."

Super moon

Saw it!
I feel depressed though now because I asked my bf to come watch it with me in hopes of clearing the tension between us and he said he'd rather watch a move. Then when I commented about it on FB he was like "Yeah cause the moon is so much better than cuddling with me and watching a movie."
The moon wasn't the point really, it was spending some time together doing something without just watching some TV. Sigh.

Even so I'm trying to keep chipper spirits and planning to go for a walk at midnight to get a coffee and see it in the park

I did and he's like "So that means it'll happen again."

Again, not the point. The next one isn't until 2016, and he said we'd watch it then but what if 2012 kills us all?!

Just kidding, but really, what better time than the present? I guess I'm just feeling down because I feel that because it's important to me it should have been enough.

Ah well, maybe my doggy will accompany me to the coffee shop and the park He'd never turn down an invitation to spend time together.

Oh and BTW thanks for the name love I love your dog! Australian Shepherd?

I understand your point exactly Smacky - it's important to live in the moment and you're right if it's important to you, it should be important to him. Try not to let it spoil the night though. You want to remember the Super Moon night as a good one.

Yes that's my dog Bella and she's gets all kinds of attention here at PC lol. I think I've talked about her 100's of times. Most people think she's Australian Shepard and we have a friend who has one with similar coloring but he's a large dog. She's a mix of Cavalier King Charles and Miniature Shepard - blue merle coloring. Her color is all miniature shepard and she weighs about 20lbs. She really is the sock stealing fugitive but we love her.

How interesting......I was sitting here on my bed (typing away on my computer here at PC) & looked out my huge arched window at the end of the dressing area in my master bedroom & noticed that HUGE MOON. It fascinated me at how large & bright it seemed more than usual (then I come here & read WHY!!!!).

Thank you for sharing this information because I wouldn't have known it otherwise......it was the most beautiful moon I have seen in a long while. Funny, the other day with all the crazy stuff that's been going on in my life.....& asked in a silly way if there was a full moon because so many irritating things have been happening in my life & the lives of others around me.

At least it was a beautiful moon no matter what crazy things happen during a full moon.

yeah the moon seems to have an effect on peoples emotions huh? I know they say that the full moon tends to make us a little crazier but has any one studied the effect the new moon has? I wonder...

I haven't heard of the Super Moon until today Eskielover and didn't know why they call it that. Just goes to show you, we can learn something everyday. I'm happy you got to see it. I love the moon, so it's nice to see it shine so bright. I also love the orange moon in the fall.

I think there has been studies but they're inconclusive. I wonder since it's closer at this time, if this would affect the tides. All I know is, I don't feel super energetic often lol - I'm normally a mild mannered kind of person. The article I got the info from said, several religious groups have meditation and other things planned for this night.

Boyfriend came up and we talked about it and he still doesn't understand. He even read this thread and he still doesn't seem to comprehend that he could have done it just because it was important to me. Gah, young men.

I just feel like our relationship is less important to him than it used to be. He used to go for walks with me just because we could. Now its like fighting a bear to get him away from his PC.

But on a more positive note: 1 hour until I venture out to the park!

That's cool. I'm a mildly practicing pagan but I didn't think to look into whether this was more spiritual. It feels like it should be - maybe why it feels so important haha but the equinox or Ostara sabbath isn't until Monday...hmmm... *goes to further investigate*

Turns out we have rituals for these types of things o_o;
I think I should start getting more informed so I can tag along to the local wicca temple and learn more. Maybe I'll start going weekly. I consider myself a pagan by spirituality but I'd love to emerse myself in it more so. lol

Agreed! Last night was chillier here too so I wouldn't have sat outside as long as I did

It's great you guys got to see the Super Moon! Unfortunately it's very stormy and overcast here and I can't see anything. Though I did catch a glimpse of it last night in between the clouds and it looked very dramatic. I'm hoping I might catch another glimpse later tonight.

Happy moon-watching, all!

Do yall know when/if it'll be seen in Australia? I remember the other night the moon was really bright, and it was out last night too. But it is raining now so it will probably be overcast.

It is the same all over the world. Just wait until night. Also, it should be almost as good the next day -- still almost full moon.

I considered so hard getting up to look. But I was so tired, I ended up saying 'screw it'. I caught a glimpse before I went to bed. And when my gf woke me up to go see it, I kinda mumbled, got up, stumbled stupidly for awhile and then went back to sleep.

Haha.
