I'm at work. I have no work left to do, I have finished every task that I have to work on. All of my bosses are on vacation - it's Spring Break at the schools here. I have asked both of the coworkers who sit next to me and they are just as bored as I am, and have nothing I can help them with.

Now, I could just rot on the internet and get paid for it.

Or I could actually do something productive. But what?

I already wiped down the area around the coffee machine. We have a cleaning service that does bathrooms/etc. so I don't think we even have any chemicals on hand.

All our paperwork is electronic (gets scanned in) so there's no filing to do.

Besides, they claim they monitor internet so one of these days I'm going to get in trouble for my usage.

Oh, that is a tough one. I work from home now, but I lost my last, rather lucrative career because of PC. And internet usage. But then I had plenty of work to do. I was just so burnt out, PC was my life line.

Please be careful Martina. I have read your previous threads about this and you clearly don't want to lose your job.

I wish you only the best.

sorry you are bored! The time goes so slowly but do be careful. Companies are getting strict about this and have ways of tracking your usage. Might be better to bring a book!!

That was my thought. You can reserve books at the library and not have to even buy one.

But if I'm sitting there reading a book then it is OBVIOUS that I'm not working. If I'm on the computer I can pretend I'm working on a spreadsheet or something.

That is true. I thought I was fooling everybody. Until they checked up on me.

I hate being bored at work. It makes the day DRAG.

But if all my work is done and I can't think of anything proactive to fill my time, I will go on some harmless internet sites, like news sites. I never go on PC while I'm at work, because I'm afraid of getting caught.

Does your boss know that your work is slow and you don't have anything to do? If not you should talk to your boss and see if they have a project or something you could work on. If you've already done that and your boss hasn't given you more work, then I don't really think you need to hide the fact that you're not busy.
