I'm wondering if anyone on here has Netflix. Our DirecTV bill is about $100 and we're trying to save money. But what I'm wondering is if TV episodes are available as soon as they are on TV or if you have to wait for the entire season to come out to watch it? Also, my bf likes watching Sports Center and things like that (those are basically the only reasons we have DirecTV) and I didn't think you could watch things like that on it. Does anyone know?

Netflix in my experience carries the things that have been released to DVD. Movies are a month after the initial street date and tv epsiodes are available slightly sooner but it is not the current showings that are airing now. Once available, you can stream them to your computer/wii/ and other things or order them through the mail depending on how they are offered as somethings are streamable and others are only available mail order.

I am not familiar with what is available for sports as I still watch these events live. Knowing that it is only what has been released for episodes and DVD's, I'm not confident in that it would be what you are needing. You should be able, as a guest, to go in and look around to see what they offer without signing up. I did so before doing it but that was 2 years ago, perhaps you still can.

Our movie store closed and the rates through the cable company are astronomical. There is a delay from the release date as a compromise but for the price, Netflix has been a lifesaver.

However, it cannot replace live tv for me however. I'm not sure a way around this other than to check other satellite carriers and recheck cable rates if offered in your area, might be cheaper. My neighbor figured out it was cheaper in the long run to buy his own dish, though not always a financial or practical option depending on one's situation.

Good luck.

We dropped Netflix just recently, after several years, because the movie selection was so out of date and we're trying to cut costs. I can't comment too much on the Wii streaming/TV ability, although we did use that feature, BUT I did want to let you know, because I think this is important, that Netflix has excellent customer service, which seems to be increasingly rare these days!

I have Netflix...love to watch streaming stuff. There's still enough to keep me entertained. They are adding more streaming all the time too. I recently dropped the 3 cds to one and used what I saved to get hulu plus.

Between the two i manage to keep up with most of the tv shows i like.

There's also casttv.com - it has lots of stuff, some free and some that links to pay sites like itunes.

I love Netflix!! The live streaming is awesome! There is soooooo much variety. It has to be said, I switched to Netflix from Blockbuster so pretty much anything would have been a vast improvement!!! I really do like Netflix though. I find the selection of movies impressive. I enjoy foreign films and some more esoteric stuff and Netflix more that fulfills that need.

I don't watch any sports so I can't comment on that, and I also don't watch much in the way of TV shows. But in terms of DVDs, Netflix are very up to date in terms of new releases, so I'm thinking it's probably similar with TV shows.

Excellent point, and one I wish I'd brought up in my original post! Netflix does indeed have lots of cool movies, documentaries, etc., that are nearly impossible to find elsewhere.

Actually, thinking about this, I might rejoin just for that reason.
