I have verizon and I'm thinking of getting an iphone when its time for my upgrade this summer. So I'm doing some research in preparation before I make my decision.
My current phone bill (with a regular, plain old phone, non smartphone) is between $59-$69
I have texting and a regular phone plan, no internet use or anything-- just talk and text.

I am wondering, is it worth it to get an iPhone? If you have an iPhone, what is your regular monthly phone bill? Is the data plan in addition to a regular phone bill? How much does your whole phone bill come to each month? Do you listen to your podcasts, play your games, get online, etc etc all on your iPhone (to my understanding its like an iPod too?) I am thinking of giving my iPod to my sister once i get an iPhone.

Any and all tips and advice are appreciated!

I have the GS and if you act quickly, they are available for about $50. I have an unlimited everything plan and with taxes and fees it's $106 a month, but it's through AT&T --and Apple and them have stopped getting along. I used to be with T mobile and was very happy, and T mobile has plans with iPhone now.

The newer G4 is the one in the news that tracks you and everything you do. I wouldn't want that one.

Note, I'm speaking as an ATT user. However, I dont think the differences between the ATT iphone and verzion ones are insane.

I currently own the 3gs and will be updating to the 5 in september upon release.
I am, in a way, bias since I am a major apple fan. While I use PCs, I'm mostly always caught on my imac, ipod, iphone, ipad, so on. However, I've also owned a lot of phones. I like the iphone the most because I can jailbreak it and completely customize it to my liking.

The phone bill runs me about 100. But what makes it so damn expensive is the mandatory data charge for internet. I'm one of the few people who has the 30 dollar unlimited data.. However, that is not an option anymore. You only have capped options at this point for 25 or 15, depending on how much internet you will be using.

It is a pricey phone, but I find it to be worth it. Everything I need is /right/ there... You have your ipod, youtube, internet (not to mention HTML net), as well as about 100,000 other apps right at your disposal. You don't need to be at a computer to download your apps like many other phones. I'll constantly put games on it on the go.

Very entertaining and useful. But a money eater. Unless you're /very/ serious about your phones, something else could probably benefit you.

I have an Iphone and I love it. What does it mean to "jailbreak" it though? I think I've heard this term before but I don't know what it means.

My biggest grumble about my current Iphone is the battery life isn't very good, but I have the 3GS. I've been told by my ATT people that the Iphone 4 battery life is better though.

I want to upgrade to the Iphone 4, but is Iphone 5 really coming out in September? If so, I think I'll wait.

Jailbreaking is pretty much just opening up the phone's OS so that you can bypass the limitations set forth by apple. Its pretty much a hack. If you don't know what you're doing it can brick your phone. I happen to find it worth it though. : D

You can do anything you'd like. I put a gameboy system on mine. But yes. I too have had problems with the battery. Gotta love lithium batteries... But that just kind of happens over time these days. the battery life becomes inevitably worse.

My last phone bill was $107 and that was just regular talk/text and I am SO annoyed. I have been trying to change my plan around to better meet my needs but there's never a good way. Its just Verizon that I hate I think. But my whole family wants me to have verizon so they can call me for free. I dont know why i am not able to call them for free since i have verizon also. i need to talk to a rep if i can find someone who's nice.
anyway so i am still thinking about getting the iphone.
i would like to have all my stuff in 1 place
no longer carry around a laptop, ipod, and phone whenever i go places ....that would be great.

I love my iPhone! It's an amazing piece of technology and a beautiful object. I personally think it's worth every penny. Hope you love it too if you decide to make the switch!

I have a Verizon Droid and love it. It's my whole life. I do everything but PC on it. Totally worth the price to me.

I'm thinking of getting one in June. New contract. But don't think there is an unlimited data package, and also nothing like BBM; just learnt to love my BB.
I have an iPod Touch, and it's really cool!
