I've started cleaning again, I'm so sick of my house getting messy, because my mother didn't teach me things like proper hygiene and cleaning I find it very hard to do. I already got rid of 2 trailer loads of junk and one trailer load of leaves and branches from the garden, and I'm STILL getting rid of things. It's getting easier to throw things away than it was initially, and although I could probably have had a garage sale (or a yard sale as I think yall in America call it), I just got rid of it all so I wouldn't pine over what is and isn't reusable.
Aaaaaanyway, I just got into my cleaning phase again, and I have just cleaned my laundry, and cleaned my kitchen, which has taken me a substantial amount of time as I had to wash all my dishes. Like, ALL of them. And just in those 2 rooms I have filled an entire garbage bag with rubbish and junk.
I've still got heaps of work to do with the rest of the house, and I am worried I'm going to get over it halfway through and not finished, but at the moment I'm totally stoked that I have managed to get through what I've done so far. Gooooooooo me!

Good luck! You will feel much more relaxed in a clean and tidy house I hope - I always do!

Yeah I think I will, my cupboard in the kitchen have all been cleaned out and uncluttered, this will sound gross but I tend to hide dirty dishes in the cupboard and forget them, horrible I know, but I have officially from hour ago cleaned every single thing and put them back organised. And I can feel the difference even when I can't see it. I do hope I manage to get through my whole house, now that I have got rid of so much stuff it won't be as much work as it would have been.

Great job! I am very new to cleaning my house - I was messy for most of my life and in January turned over a new leaf. I find it therapeutic to clean and have tried to get into the habit of cleaning more regularly.

Don't beat yourself up if you don't finish all at once. I try to clean one room at a time and feel good that I got a room done....take a break, then go back and do the next one.

I totally agree - I can normally only face one room at a time!

Great accomplishment. Good luck with what is left.

I have completely done my kitchen, now Ive been putting everything in the spare room and bedroom out in the dining area to go through and organise. Its just too much junk, little tidbits that havent really got a pile to go in. I just stand there and look at it and dont know where to begin.

Can you put that stuff in a box for now so it's out of the way? you can always go through it later.

Ive been planning to go through it later for about 6 years! Ha ha A lot of my stuff is still in boxes from when I moved here, I had some of it stored in a room outside but the roof flooded and I had to get rid of it all. Plus I had boxes in the spare room inside, and stuff crammed into the cupboards in my bedroom and linen cupboard, both of which are floor to ceiling. I have got everything out of the boxes and cupboards onto the floor into a pile, and am sorting what Ill keep and what I wont, then organising the rest nicely. Its just hard to do that with some stuff when I dont have a lot of nice boxes or many drawers or shelves, I dont want to stick it all back in a box and put it in the cupboard.

you sound just like me. When i moved in w/ my husband, I threw all of our extra stuff in our spare room and the basement.
Well first, the basement flooded - nothing teaches you to throw stuff out like a flood.
then I needed to convert our spare room into an office, so that room is actually liveable now - but i still have trouble throwing stuff away - i still have 2 bags of clothes that are in the "get rid of' pile that I just haven't gotten around to getting rid of and it's over 2 months!

i'm at the point where if it hasn't been used, or touched in 6 months it's garbage. If I haven't seen my husband ever wear it I throw it out behind his back (he hasn't noticed it yet and it's been a couple of years).

I have no idea how people have such nice clean, seamingly empty homes - if anyone wants to clue us in - that would be great!
