I am thinking of getting a laptop but since my needs are few and uncomplicated I was considering a net book.
What works for you? What kind should I stay away from?

Last summer I was doing the same thing, my only needs were to type up papers for school, and if it could go on the internet that would be great, in the end I got a laptop because, even though it was more money, it was worth it for what I was getting. I am wicked happy I got the laptop because I have used it to watch movies, project presentations, and there is no more waiting to use the house computer.

Personally, my favourite PC laptop is the Dell Inspiron. I still own an older model. And while its chunky as hell its in ace condition and still runs like I bought it yesterday. Its also hard to scratch and dent, meaning you don't really even need a case if you're careful with your stuff.
Buttt, I'm not reall a PC person. So.. My other laptop (and the one I would recommend any day) is my 13 inch Macbook pro. I wanted something a bit smaller and easier to cart around than my dell. And I love apple, so I wanted a mini version of my large iMac. Its honestly perfect. Even if you don't like iOS, you can still run parallels on it and have windows OS. It is, however, very pricey. But the way I see it - why pay 400 multiple times for cheaper laptops? This one has lasted me 2 solid years and is still going great. I expect it to. Granted, it did cost a grand total of 1,300.00. But once again - pay for the quality. Plus not many viruses are written to iOS... So you have that going for you as well. I only use it for writing too. But either way. Those are my picks. Not 400, but... They won't let you down, thats for sure. No matter what you're using them for. Because I promise when you get a laptop, you'll do more on it than just write. ;] |

Mmmm.....net books!
They are really not worth the money, they don't have a full keyboard or dvd drive the screen is small the cpu is slow and there screen-cards belongs in the late 90's. Do think twice, maybe save a few months more and get a real laptop.

I am leaning towards a tablet since I do have a PC to do writing etc. Does anyone have a tablet and how do you like it?
My daughter in law is over the moon about hers.

I think you'll kind of expect my answer.......
I have an ipad.. Lol. But to be fair, its not.. THE BEST. I mean. If you've ever used an ipod touch, then this is pretty much what you're getting only much much bigger. I also have an Android though. Its not bad. A little more customization since it functions more like a desktop. Lost time couldn't be more right about the 3G, though. Its more expensive but so worth it. |
