I have to get a new cell phone. I am behind the times as the one I have has worked great for 12 years for cell and data (text and e-mail) but finally the speaker phone has gone out, not safe for hands free driving so am stuck right now. It isn't urgent at the moment but soon will be when I start having long commutes and traveling out of town.

They all have similar features for calls and data. I am wondering what you like or don't like about the one you have or ones you have had? Any recommendations and why?

Not a Palm Pre! I have one, and although it does many things quite well, there are two or three things it just doesn't do at all, which is really weird. Like you can only set the alarm for multiples of 5 (7am, 7.05, 7.10, 7.15... never 7.16 or 7.09!). And you can either have the ringer of the phone on, or silent - on my old blackberry you could have on, silent, extra loud, phone only but no beep for texts - all sorts of different settings that were good for different situations.

Meh. I liked my old blackberry, it handled emails very well. The Palm Pre is better for internet, but I think that's just because it's newer - I imagine newer blackberries are just as good for that.
