For a year I had been watching the deep, insightful, funny skits at church, dreaming of being in one one day....I signed up to be in one....and I got an email that invited me to rehearsal!! The creative process was so engaging- the director insisted on our input, even made big decisions such as what props to use up to us!! We were bouncing ideas off each other...at the speed of a mile a minute..

Ths skit was about the chance to get to heaven, the contestant on the game show had to offer up her seat on the bus to me, a pregnant lady (lol)and I my answer was 'I may be pregnant but I'm not an INVALID.....you can keep your lousy seat!!!' The contestant ends up pushing me in the seat, and I exaggerated with my movements how hard she pushed me and got quite a laugh

Next the contestant has to buy a homeless person dinner..the homeless person refuses the $$...but she shoves it in her hands anyway..

The judges end up ruling in her favor, oddly, that she passed the first two contests....she gambles everything she has won thus far to proceed in a final challenge-- she must give away as much as she can to help others...she struggles with how will people know it's from her? Time is out...she has lost everything.....and the newest contestant is called into the gameshow..

Our church's skit is supposed to you leave you feeling uneasy and very ready to hear the pastor's message....that service is done from what's in your heart, not to 'get to heaven' that comes from what's in your heart..

Our church is so innovative, so nonjudgemental, so friendly!! I was shunned from so many churches on account of my eccentricity...only to be made the leader of different groups..and embraced...and loved at mine

I have a coming audition to make the Sunday morning announcements onstage-- another dream coming true..

It's funny how the RIGHT people behind an organization make all the difference to this previously shunned young woman, me...

How awesome. You see these skits on You Tube all the time. I too have wanted to be a part of one of these. Let us know how it goes.

Congratulations, Junerain! It's a wonderful thing to find a place where one's eccentricities are an asset.

May I offer a re-phrasing of it?

It's wonderful when we finally can believe that we can make heaven on Earth, and to know that the more of us do it, the more people will see that it's possible and make heaven on earth for themselves as well.
Thanks for this!

Sounds like a great church. My church is very friendly. The pastor knows about my diagnoses, everyone knows my son has asperger's (for one thing it's obvious, for another thing he tells people) and there have been no problems at all.

Sounds like you had a very wonderful experience with the skit. I know for myself, as we grow older & people start accepting us for who we really are, life seems to settle in as we find the places we feel comfortable in.

Growing up is difficult normally, but when we have challenges that complicate it, finding & learning where we fit in our community leaves some rough feelings, but does turn into a wonderful life.

Keep up the good work & hope you keep enjoying it all. When God guides our life, we definitely are more able to find where our gifts & talents really belong.
