music can be like studying history, theres so much music from the past, waiting to be discovered, all types music i like , just not heavy rock music, angry stuff, i hate that.

I mainly listen to country. But I also like Pink and Evanescence, and Billy Joel (did I just date myself?).
For playing the piano I prefer classical music, you can really put all your emotions into it, it's like therapy.

Wow, I didn't think there'd be so many other Billy Joel fans out there.
 I saw him in concert once, it was absolutely awesome!! It was the Stormfront tour.

I'm into country primarily. (Doug Stone on the speakers right this moment.)
But I also enjoy some classic rock, especially of the Doo-Wop variety. I'm pretty young for Doo-Wop, but then my daughters like it too. About the only music forms I really can't stand are rap and disco. That's just personal preference. Nothing against people who do like those genres.
