I really need a job, I've been out of work, except for a 2 month period for over a year now.

I have an interview tomorrow for a senior accountant's job that would be downtown. I really want this job.

I also have an interview on Mon. again for a senior accountant's job. It's an ok job but it's contract and it's an hour's drive away in another city, but it would be a good get back to work transitional job.

Please wish me luck that I get one of them, but most especially the first one.

The way I always see it... If you have gotten the interview, you pretty much have the job.
All you have to do is but the cherry on the cake. Just be confident. You can go in knowing nothing and as long as you're confident, it'll all be /just/ fine.

I also have an interview tomorrow. So I'll send you some luck points.

I have no idea how the interview went as it was a very strange interview. I met with the controller, and she basically gave me an overview of the company and the job, and then asked me how I'd gotten to where I'd gotten. I explained that the job description was very similar to what I had been doing at my last job, and that I had enjoyed it, and that I liked being a hands on technical accountant. I explained what I've been doing for the past year (with significant omissions) and explained that I wanted to work for a small company, that I wanted a hands on position, and that I wanted to work downtown.

The weird part is she didn't ask me any questions, really.

I asked her if she had any reservations about me as a candidate, and she said no - it was just that she had envisioned hiring someone who was just starting out, who wanted to gain experience. I reassured her I wouldn't be bored.

I told her that I was in a somewhat awkward position, in that I was in the process of interviewing for another job, but that the position with her company was my preferred position, and I asked if I could call her next week to find out if I'd made it to the 2'nd interview stage, depending on how quickly things went with the other job.

Then after the interview I went to a coffee shop and wrote her a thank you note on a really nice handmade art card, reiterating that i wanted the job and why I'd be good for it. I left that at reception.

So I sort of feel like I've done all that I could.

Now I have to start preping for Mon's interview, although I am much less enthusiastic about that job.

On a plus side, I've now also got a telephone interview for a senior business planner's role at Atomic Energy Canada Ltd. It's a crown corporation so the job would be well paying and have great benefits. But it would mean relocating, which I'd be cool with.

It didn't help this morning that I didn't sleep well last night. I kept having PTSD nightmares. And then when I woke up this morning I had a really bad case of PMS, so I'm feeling awful, so I know I wasn't at my best today.

sounds like you said the right things tho...& sometimes when we aren't feeling at 100% you don't cover stuff with BS you just give the honest answers..you know no extra passing or things...at least for me anyway...while i like to feel good going in i find that sometimes it can work against me.

& good for you writing a thank you note. i used to always tell my employe4es to do that when they were looking for another job (seasonal ones)...always follow up with a hand written note. it might be the thing that sets you apart from everyone else...plus it shows good manners & upbringing...& there is nothing wrong with that (& good paper doersn't hurt either!)

That sort of sounds like code for wanting to hire someone much younger and at the very bottom of the pay scale...

No matter what happens, you are out there now and it sounds like you could end up with multiple job choices to choose from! Good luck on your next interviews.
