Felt like the bottom of the whole house was shaking. Brass figures fell off the window sill. I thought the house was blowing up. Weird, instead of running, I froze. lol... Puppy ran tho. I was scared out of my bee gees..
Had no idea what happened. Then I thought a low flying airplane. Or a hugh truck passed by.........

Turned out we had a 5.9 magnitude earthquake........ Which never happens in this place of the world.. Except for a few years ago, we had a smaller one, that just shook the house for a min..

weird ..scary... ooo those poor folks that had major earthquakes... what a sooooooooooo very scary feeling......and the sound in itself is frightening...........

You felt it too missbelle. Very scary especially when you don't know what is happening. But then if I knew it was an earthquake, I'd would have been even more scared.. Glad you are ok...

Felt the quake here in NYC big time! No damage though it lasted for close to 30 seconds. My building is on landfill and the ground really shook; it felt like it was much closer than Virginia! It's easy to confirm if shaking is related to an earthquake, just go to www.usgs.gov (website for the U.S. Geological Survey). The quake was posted within a few minutes.

I am in Phila and felt it big time! The building shook like jelly in a jar! This is the second one for me and I do not like it! It shakes me up big time! Have to have a long talk with my HP.

I felt it too, but thought it was just a truck or something until my bf Googled it and told me it was an actual earthquake. I'm in central Pennsylvania, so it wasn't strong here like in Virginia.

Mother Nature's dyspepsia lead to an eructation or singultus with a magnitude of 5.9. It is hard to imagine the power of the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that hit Japan on March 11th.

And it all depends on the actual depth of the quake too and if it was a "roller" or "shaker". Sometimes than can be heard before they are felt.

Hope you're safe and get under the door frame if there's another!

I guess the quake was a roller so I am told. I went up in the apartment and found pics on floor and two candles. I know cats were not impressed when those two candles hit the floor!!!

I heard on the radio when I was driving that people in tall office buildings felt it all the way up here in Toronto, but I didn't feel anything. Had one aboout this time last year too that shook me up pretty bad.
