i like many work in a mismanged place. I've always tried to help out just cause That's how i am. Here lately we've been manditory lay off for a few days this month by the end so like this whole week we've been short handed. I took my days off at the beginning of the month so i'm finding that i along with a very very few others are one's staying to pitch in cause it's not a place where if something comes up you can just leave. That's happened 3 times this week with me. I feel used my supervisor says fix the problem. We can't refuse receipt from carriers and so on, so i'm forced to stay. I'm thinking i'm going to tally up my time and send a note to say i'm leaving early or coming in late. I've food it before due to we aren't allowed over time ever and i've stayed so much in the past to help out. I brought that up the last therapy time i had i got basically told just accept it and just due to it's my personality to help out. I don't think That's good to just accept to be used at work. I've not taken lunches and breaks for spans of time which is law mandatated i've looked it up. But any other suggestions of other than just accept it. Sort of piss me off to just accept it, like saying your a door mat just accept it. Blah in the end it's ok. Whatever. I understand not everyone is like me with work meaning i'm unable to let something go undone, i have to finish it correctly. But still, just accept to be used. Am i wrong not to like this idea. Any one have a more elaborate meaning to what i may be missing with it? be well all. Just a thought today i'm going to hang out with my dog now

No I don't think you're wrong at all. Do you have a union at work. There are employee laws, to protect employees from working longer hours, deprived of lunches/breaks, not getting paid for overtime etc. Problem is they're used to you being nice and cooperating. I think you have to nicely stick up for yourself and ask for fairness. You aren't being treated fairly at all.

Hello, beauflow. One option would be to call your state's department of labor to find out what the law says about this. The company mind find out it is in violation of the law. If so, you will have to decide if you want to pursue the matter. If Colorado is an "at work" state, there is reason to be cautious.

Good luck.

Thanks LynnP and TheByzantine. No union with this place, i'm not part of the company i'm part of the contractor group. Colorado maybe a at work state but i've looked on the colorado state dept of labor website which has laws posted for work and what companies are to follow for this. Others have fought with management to get their lunches but i'm sorry i find it's a headache to fight for what should be given by what ppl are entitled to by law. In the end it's ok, it's my own fault for staying due to my potential could be used some where else but idk where to start to leave for better, plus this job has made me a little negative about other places that they'll be the same especially with the down economy. I'm sorry for being a whiney person i know a lot are going through the same or similar thing. And we all in society having to work to work is like ... We have to and we get paid but really is this all life is? Lol i know it's not and i don't mean to sound like a hippie but some times it doesn't make sense to me.
But i'll go back through some stuff and reread. And i'll try not to let this work stuff not be over controling for me. And i'll try to stop whining so much and do something or stop being me at work. I wish to go back to school but idk where i fit for moving up. i just know i can do more than where i'm at. maybe part of my reason of feeling used? Idk

labor laws been calle don my last employer from her ex employees 4 times and all she got was a slap on a wrist and back pay that the employee never got. after 5 months i had to start doing my time cards because i was working 92hrs a week and she didn't want to give me overtime.
I do my job and then some, always relied upon and taken advantage because i put everything in my job. i like when things get done and when they get done right.
and she knew she needed me it was so bad i got cussed at and screamed at daily. i walked off a few times took a 3 day break came back and low and behols was not fired. why because no one else would put up with her crap. i was beaten down in self eestem and everything. after i finally quit i wasn't the same that's when i decided to work for myself. people like that should not be employers.
people say why did you stay so long, well the money was amazing and i was hurting at the time, and i didn't have any college adeucation at the time. i needed a job and would have done anything but at least it was in an area where i got to be with animals
