Are you listening to some song with lyrics that stands out... because it is inspirational, adorable, cute, funny or plain silly?

share here

I will start

< southern slavic accent >
"heavy weather that's all we had together, now I am leaving, let me make my way
heavy weather, I'm now out for better..."

< /southern slavic accent >

"And who do you think you are
Running round leaving scars
Collecting your jar of hearts and tearing love apart
You're gonna catch a cold
From the ice inside your soul
So don't come back for me
Who do you think you are."

And now for something light hearted but stinky lol:

Beans, beans, the magical fruit
The more you eat, the more you toot
The more you toot, the better you feel
So we have beans at every meal!

Climb every mountain
Ford every stream
Follow every rainbow
Til you find your dream.

Sentimental creeps and cops
Congressmen and debutants
Wander up and down the avenue
They don’t know world’s a bore
Everything’s been done before
And I’m so tired, that change is overdue

Care by Kid Rock

Cause I hear screamin' on the left
Yellin' on the right
I'm sittin' in the middle tryin' to live my life

Cause I can't stop the war
Shelter homeless feed the poor
I can't walk on water
I can't save the sons and daughters
Well I can't change the world and make things fair
The least that I can do
The least that I can do
The least that I can do is care...

I cry every time I hear this song it reminds me so of my Mom. Part in italics really speaks to and for me.

Gonna Get There Some Day by Dierks Bentley
Well its been a year and there so much to tell
been doing alright in spite of myself
just wish I could stop feeling bad when I pray
But I know I'm gonna get there someday

Got that job I was dreaming about
sometimes its tough traveling around
but who I wanna be still seems so far away
but I know I'm gonna get there someday

glad I told you all I meant to
while I had the chance
cause every moment I had with you
made me who I am

by the way, I met someone new
and wouldn't you know, she's a whole lot like you
still I ain't ready to settle down in one place
but I know I'm gonna get there someday

well I guess I'll be movin on
I'll just leave these daisies by your stone
and momma, I still miss you every day
but I know I'm gonna get there someday

when that'll be, guess only God can say
but I know I'm gonna get there someday
Thanks for this!

From "For No One," by the Beatles (written by Paul), off of Revolver

You want her, you need her
And yet you don't believe her
When she says her love is dead;
You think she needs you

And in her eyes you see nothing
No sign of love behind the tears
Cried for no one
A love that should have lasted years

I also love these lyrics, from "In a Hand or a Face" by The Who:

There's a man going through your dustbin
Only this time he's looking for food
There's a tear in his eye; you don't know him
Oh, but you know what he's going through

Ain't it funny that you can't seem to help him?
Feelin' sick as he staggers away?
Is it weird that you hate a stranger?
Can a detail correct your dismay?

I love Drake, and I love this song called Club Paradise;

My biggest fear is losing it all
Remember how I used to feel at the start of it?
And now I'm living a fairy tale
And still trying to keep you feeling a part of it
Yeah, just lie to my ears,
Tell me it feel the same, its all I've been dying to hear

Another favourite Drake lyric is from Trust Issues

Tell me how are we suppose to be friends
When you got a bunch of feeling that you dont show...

The lyrics to "Kiss Off" by the Violent Femmes perfectly sum up my tendency to be angry, cynical, and mistrustful:

You can all just kiss off into the air /
Behind my back I can see them stare /
They'll hurt me bad, but I don't mind /
They'll hurt me bad; they do it all the time

Something I remember from my childhood back in the 50's....we just knew the chorus...but added the rest of the words just because I wanted to know what they were if there were any.
Here's some silly lyrics:

Mairzy Doats
I know a ditty, nutty as a fruitcake
goofy as a goon silly as a loon
Some call it pretty others call it crazy
but they all sing this tune:
Chorus:
Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wooden shoe?Yes!
Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wooden shoe?
If the words sound queer and funny to your ear
a little bit jumbled and jivey
sing
"Mares eat oats and does eat oats and little lambs eat ivy"
Oh!
Mairzy doats and dozy doats and liddle lamzy divey
A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you--oo? A kiddley divey too, wouldn't you?

(a kidd will eat ivy too wouldn't you?)

This was a novelty song composed in 1943 by Milton Drake, Al Hoffman, and Jerry Livingston. It was first played on radio station WOR, New York, by Al Trace and his Silly Symphonists. The song made the pop charts several times, with a version by the Merry Macs reaching No. 1 in March 1944. A success on the home front, it was also a hit with American servicemen overseas, who allegedly used its nonsensical lyrics as passwords.

Time takes it's crazy toll
and how does your mirror grow
you better watch yourself when you jump into it
'cause the mirror's gonna steal your soul

I wonder how it came to be my friend
that someone just like you has come again
you'll never know how close you came
until you fall in love with the diamond rain

throw all his trash away
look out he's here to stay
your mirror's gonna crack when he breaks into it
and you'll never never be the same

Part of Sonic Youth's "Diamond Sea"

Can you help me remember how to smile?
Make it somehow all seem worthwhile
How on earth did I get so jaded?

Life's mystery seems so faded
