I've been foiled by the internet! I invited my son to lunch, offering to buy, and saying I wanted to try an Indian restaurant. Now I find out his girlfriend is coming along and oh, by the way, what's the name of the restaurant? Quick as a bunny they will discover it is a vegetarian place. Now when they come to pick me up I will be faced with two sets of sad puppy-dog like eyes. "Really, vegetarian?? Do we hafta go there???? Let's go to 'Meat-Eaters Paradise' instead!" The internet has seriously destroyed my element of surprise.

Awww, hopefully it will still be enjoyable. Could always invite them to lunch but not tell them where next time until they pick you up, but tell them only that, "There is a place I want to try" or "I haven't decided where yet; I have a few places in mind, will let you know" so as not to foiled again. Enjoy!

When most people think of vegetarian, they think of salads. There are so many tasty ways to spice up a meatless dish, though - most of which have nothing to do with salad

omg, esp at an indian place, you don't even miss the meat. I hope you ordered something really hot, just to show them who's the man and who's the mouse! I put extra curry powder into almost everything, I love it and it's so good for you. nobody makes better cauliflower or potatoes than in an indian restaurant. I must be hungry! hope you have a good time!

Ha! Sure enough -- they checked the place out on the internet. So we ended up going to a Chinese place and everyone was happy. But I am still going to go to that Indian place some day!
Thanks for this!
