Today, I handed in my resume to a department store, and I was wondering how long I would have to wait for them to call me to schedule an interview...

On average, I've always had to wait a week. The fastest I've had a response is 2 days.
But in a week, if they don't call you - you can call them.
It helps and they love that you appear to be into it.
