I just found out today that I have an intake interview on Mon. for a women's transitional supported sober living residence. That's a really fast turnaround as my hospital only faxed the referal in yesterday.

I'm having really mixed feelings about this. My pride doesn't like the idea - heck 2 years ago I was making donations to places like this.

Yet at the same time I recognize that I could benefit from supported sober housing as I'm having some trouble coping at the moment, and it's rent geared to income which would help a lot. I suppose I should be grateful the option is available at all.

Also I do recognize that all the staff at my addictions treatment place think it's a good idea, and they generally know what's better for me, than i do myslef.

it'll be interesting to see what the place is like, find out about the rules, eligeability criteria and waiting lists.

Just feeling very weird about it.

Hi,

My good friend was in transitional housing a few yrs back. I know every place is different, but her experience was she lived in a house with 2 other roomates of the same sex and it was a clean & sober enviroment. Everyone had. Regain days to do chores and they had house meetings I think once every 2 wks.

I think the most exciting thing for her was all the help she got. She had all kinds of support for every aspect of he life. At 1 point I asked her how I could get in! And at the 2 yr mark when she had to leave they assisted her in finding a place w/ negotiated rent (bay area ca) in a nice nice community in a richer part of town.

I guess it depends on how you look at it, yes it is transitional housing -some aspects of it are not all that exciting....but from what I've seen it can give you the help and support x100 which is nice...

Anyways good luck whatever you decide to do
Thanks for this!
