Hey guys,

I'm going to DC to visit/interview for a potential summer job and I'm really excited, but also nervous...I'm flying down by myself, and I've never flown alone or traveled any significant distance alone before although I might be more nervous about traveling from the airport to where I'm meeting the program director though. I'm flying into BWI and I need to get to Eastern Market (anyone from the area care to reassure me that it's easy like the program director said)? Any travel tips? It's been ages since I've gone anywhere.

I'll only be there Sunday-Tuesday morning so packing will be fairly easy...a couple of outfits, my toiletries (gotta get my travel size stuff), extras of socks and underwear and that's about it, right?

Thanks!

I live in DC. I haven't been here that long myself, so don't know the area real well. Haven't been to the Eastern Market, but heard it is cool. There is a Metro that stops near there. I don't know if you'll be renting a car or not?

Best of luck for your interview!

Look on the TSA website how things should be packed for your travel-sized liquid toiletries and medications, especially if they are going to be in a carry-on. There is other helpful information on their website for packing. I don't know if you are renting a car vs taking taxi's, but especially if renting a car, I found taking maps ahead of time of the area, printed from home helpful around the hotel and on how to get to the interview.

It sounds like it will be quite an opportunity and so wish you the best for safe travels!

I'm not renting a car nor am I staying in a hotel. I'm flying in then taking the bus/metro to where I need to meet the program director and she's picking me up with her car and I'm staying at the organization's facilities

I've looked at TSA and everything and I just went out and bought appropriate 3oz conainers since I am not checking my bag but carrying it on.

Thanks guys!
