In depression . . . faith in deliverance, in ultimate restoration, is absent. The pain is unrelenting, and what makes the condition intolerable is the...feeling felt as truth...that no remedy will come -- not in a day, an hour, a month, or a minute. . . . It is hopelessness even more than pain that crushes the soul.-William Styron |

Gee SophiaG, I am not sure where that is. However I do check my posts to see if other members agree, disagree, add thoughts etc. Oh I think it is normal to want to know how others respond to our thoughts. I don't think everyone that appreciates our thoughts always click the thank you button to say so though. Some people consider a thank you as an endorsement of what you think so they might hesitate placing a thank you, however that doesn't mean that someone has not read your thoughts and are tossing them around in their mind in a productive manner.
I like your posts, you have genuine concerns and ideas. I think about what you question and how you express yourself. You have deep concerns that I am sure others have as well. Just dont gage your worthiness by the thank yous you receive. Often our thoughts and questions get tossed around in the minds of others for a while, it take some people time to grasp the meaning of what others question and say. I know that is the case with myself. Open Eyes |

I always click the thanks button to anyone that posts in my threads. It just seems courteous to thank then for taking the time to respond, but yeah I realize not everyone does this. Perhaps I do seek a sort of validation looking at the list. You seem more concerned with what people say and how they react than how they react. I don't know how much of an effect words of advice have on people in threads. Maybe for some people it has more of an impact than for others. |

Yes, some people react differently than others to whatever I post. I think that I like to know also that if I DID take the time to give thought to a person's concern that they did read it. I like to know that if I read someone expressing a real struggle and I try to reach out as best as I can, that they know someone answered them. And sometimes they may ask another question to my post.
I think with myself, when I first came here I was really struggling outside PC so I wanted to review my thoughts of the previous day as well. If I was triggered in some way by something someone else said, I do go back and try to see what that person said and I think about WHY I was effected by it. For what I have, complex PTSD, it was important to me to pay attention to the things that I was troubled by as best as I could. I have really learned alot by expressing my thoughts and seeing what others say. It has been really helpful to have this way of reviewing our thoughts and interactions because we can review the the things we say and think about what we are actually feeling and how it all comes out in our interactions. I know for myself in the first few months I was here I was interacting through constant crippling anxiety attacks that I didn't understand. Outside PC I had a lot on my plate and I did notice that PC helped me to slow down and focus away from all of that. I actually think that it is very healthy for the brain. Perhaps you dont get a lot of support outside PC (I know I didn't) and you check the thank you's because you feel like your actually being heard, it makes you feel a sense of achievement. I have to admit it is so theraputic to have others who understand our personal struggles. ((((Hugs)))) Open Eyes |

Yes. For me, I look for validation of what I took the risk to share. It also helps me to understand who "gets" me.

I don't take it personally if I'm not thanked though. Most times I go back to make sure I said what I wanted to say (sometimes I forget what I've said), and sometimes in hindsight to make sure I didn't make matters worse. Mostly, the pleasure I get from a "thank you" is acknowledgement that my post has been read/received. What people do with what I share is their business....it's merely food for thought.
I hope people don't take it personally if they are not thanked because I don't thank every post - even when I'm truly thankful for their contribution. Sometimes I get so blown away that I forget to thank them, lol - then when I do remember, I have a heck of a time finding it again. ![]() So if I've forgotten anyone......THANK YOU!!! ![]() |

I tend to post rather than to just push the buttons so I have more times thanked than me, thanking. But sometimes I do both. The word, "thanks" seems rather too vague to me, often I use it to mean "I agree" which is not necessarily the same.
