Trigger warning*** Probably should put that in case something triggers someone...

So I saw a thread about pet peeves someone has and I know we all have them. Family Guy has an episode where Peter (the father) gets offered a part on the News program for his segment called "What grinds my gears" where of course he goes off on annoying things the world does.

The idea is for a thread that everyone can post on (post lightly please, no debates or offensive things) about all of their pet Peeves in life. Maybe help us get the pent up frustration out when the world around is falling to crap...

Can't wait to see what grinds others gears!

Here I go... You know what grinds my gears?

Employers who use and abuse their employees paying them only minimum wage and working the heck out of them. Employers who have someone on Salary and make them work 60 hours a week...

Another gear grinder... The court system in their handling of pedophiles and sexual assault people. If you are going to take the innocence from a child, or take something pure from a woman, you deserve what murderers deserve! You steal innocense and safety and you deserve to be tried as if you took a life because in many cases you do. The person is never the same after the assault and thus you have killed a part of them and should pay for murder. And those who defend these abusers should be tried as accomplices!

More to come but I'm at work lol

Another gear grinder, people who play online when they should be working

a few:

Techno, electronica, and related music, it is just a lot of random programmed noise.

Vapid people-ex. Paris Hilton, The Kardashians, The Jersey Shore etc...

"prosti-tots" not the kids themselves, they are victims. What are these moms thinking when they cake a bunch makeup on their three year old daughters and struct them around on stage like little hookers, disgusting.

Celebrities who engage in issues they know nothing about.
Thanks for this!

Alrighty then...

You know what grinds my gears? Repeat DUI offenders. Recently around here someone got arrested on their 8th DUI charge. That's not even the worst one; I remember there was someone who had 11 DUIs. WTF are these people still driving?

What else grinds my gears is that now politicians are less trusted than sex offenders.
Thanks for this!

A few of mine are:

When people act fake to try and get others to like them. They're going to find out who you are sooner or later.

People who get famous with no actual talent.

People that you think are your friends, then will just stop talking to you.

Young girls trying to grow up too fast.

Garbage papers, (ex, National Enquirer, when will they stop publishing this trash?)

The constant obsession with weight in this country. Just a few of my pet peeves.

people who believe they are the source of all information about a topic but really don't have any information about one & just spout half baked poop.

the non-listeners who then know all the solutions.

the billionaire politicians who have no problems slashing the programs for the poor & needy..because they have no idea how it impacts people's lives.

dui offenders who then plead not guilty when their blood level was 3x the legal level...really? you were not guilty? just how did all that alcohol enter your system & force that volvo wagon to plow into a telephone pole?

oh there are so many....

When I want to see who played a certain part in a movie on TV and when the movie's credits are rolling, the network makes them too small to read

Relatedly, when a TV show lists the names of actors and actresses who play the roles, but never connects faces with the names

(I'm trying to avoid thinking about major issues in the world right now--too depressing!)

...Advertising gives me the utter poop!

and it's everywhere and relentless, I know it's part of the commercial machine , but it's just so obviously full of crap....and it's so stupid.

..."only while stocks last"...I mean what the heck does that mean?
how come I can't buy something when there's nuthin' left? duh!
everythings a MASSIVE saving, this month only goes for two bloomin' years...every car company has some stupid up itself slogan..."driven by obsession"...(now that can't be good!)
"call this number now".....bla bla bla
you'd have to be stoned as a goat to fall for any of it!
oh well...enough of that

On a more serious matter... It grinds my gears when people can't just own up to stuff. you know...admit things they did wrong, save everybody all the bother!

like....yeh I DID THAT....it was ME!

seems so many people are tryin' to get away with things so often.

good thread. thanks

You know what grinds my gears? Television and media filled with cheap, pointless, talentless reality TV shows that are so similar it's as though they came from a factory. By this, I mean TV shows such as the Kardashians, Jersey Shore, and not to mention all the dance and singing "talent" shows. I dislike the Kardashians because there's nothing interesting about the show at all yet they think they're incredibly unique and gifted in some way. Jersey Shore is much the same, nothing amazing and during the Roast of Donald Trump (a good comedy show that you need thick skin to watch), Michael Sorrentino (aka the situation) was the only "comedian" to get booed off stage because he did what he does in Jersey Shore: make a lot of noise, wear his sunglasses in that annoying way where it's half-way down his nose and reference his abs and fake sun tan.

The dance and singing TV shows are the ones I hate the most. It's not just that it's a cheap show, I could care less how much the winners are paid, or if they're paid at all for that matter. Instead, the audience is like a bunch of screaming school girls, a painfully loud and gradually annoying sound. What's worse though are the judges who do the exact same screeching and squealing, except they have a microphone so it's louder than the audience. However, there's only one such show I consider to be somewhat bearable: The X Factor simply because the judges have enough sense to act as judges and give some rationale, rather than, "AAAAAAHHHHH-EEEEEEEIIIIIIII-AAAAAAAHHHHHHH". In particular, Simon Cowell because he says only what is relevant, such as his opinion with detailed reasoning and does not cave in to the contestant's emotional state.

But what truly grinds my gears ... is that Simon Cowell is not the judge in other singing and dance TV shows. If he were, then they may be worth while watching.

What grinds my gears is how teh social services system finds reasons to avoid getting involved in domestic abuse issues and now, there is a case going on of three daughters and a wife murdered as an "honour killing." Reports had been coming in about what these girls had to put up with and, as usual, the rules in the protection programs just ignore the case or place a person in more danger through the practices and judgement calls. This case was closed (mostly due to budget restraints and deadlines, and workloads) and then the four women were found dead, murdered by males in the family. It is as if the legal, social, and judicial systems let them down. That grinds my gears!!

Trigger Don't read if you are in a bad mood or down or what not

BUT

ya know what really grinds my gears and it happened today

When you talk to someone and they bring up a totally inappropriate "example" of how management is BUT YET HAS NO CLUE what they really are saying

Ex. This is what happened to day

I was making a comment on how management at "our work" is buddy buddy people- if you are not buds with this person basically you don't get recognized and if you settle down and do your job- that still is not good enough and granted yes it is worse in other places than my work-- but still-- Then I was explaining how mangers are friends best friends with new workers than in a few months they are riding that person's @s$3$ to get work done or just for dumb small things- and the cycle continues- I had made the comment- you get more out of people with leading with a carrot than a stick which is what an old co-worker use to say before they left. And I always liked that saying- Carrots are yummy

This current coworker starts talking about Management is like how people beat animals and that they just expect that animal to do what they say, and then he started to go into how people beat other people and that they just expect them to do stuff--- and that it always back fires ---

I kept my comments to myself with this until a bit of over repeating about the dog or human being beaten again came up with this guy.. It was like he had to retell the whole thing like 3 times to me--

I got a little (guess matter of fact with him for I was getting a bit upset with his words) with this person- I told him most people who do the beatings on animals or other humans, is to strike fear into others, and for the one being beaten to submit to abuser--- he shut up- Thank the stars.. course it is a power trip too but I did not go into that- I was sort of done talking to him after this and told him to have a happy new year

But it really pisses me off that this guy thinks he knows every god knowing thing and pulls this out of his *** and is not explaining it very well- NOR is it a very good "common example" to use for Work Place Management--- I swear-- Yeah i feel abused at work at work, beaten down at time, but I take that up with my supervisor or it is a thing i am working on-- I just could not believe he brought that up-- yeah it triggered me a little but if I was not me and had went through my life-- I could see him making someone cry or worse get rather angry with him. (I was gettin a bit angry cuz you can just tell he has no clue what is like and yet he is trying to explain the whole thing)

I think the main thing is that he kept rambling about beating the dog, he said it repetitively and just could not get off that "beating a dog".. it is like good lord get to your point please!!! BUT yet he can't cuz he does not really KNOW the point to which he is saying- which is another tick.

Guess this coworker Grinds My Gears LOL

What grinds my gears? People who zoom up the lane that's about to end because they just HAVE to get in front of you, then flip you off or cut ahead of you with no room to stop.

I hate driving as it is but I have no mercy for irresponsible, rude, arrogant drivers.

speaking of driving, how about when people are speeding up to a red light!

When people use the Lord's name in vain, it sends chills down my spine.

people why lay garbage anywhere like on a store's shelf

When famous people like singers and actors start getting into political stuff.

When I need assistance from my sons in doing a difficult chore and they are totally clueless about offering help unless I ask them for it. They cannot observe and conclude that this person struggling with something might appreciate some help. They are young adults and all they think of is gaming. Grrrr

Don't mind me...I am a parent lol.

This is great!!!

Gear grinders:

*The people who are so worried about the first amendment protecting criminals. For example with the pedophile blogger, all the people saying it was his "freedom of speech"
*The government in their attempts to fix the economy by only making it worse
*The media and their thirst for a story, even if it's not correct by any means
*Terrible drivers
*Hunters
*Theives
*People who are more intersted in money than anything else in the world
*The judicial system and their ways of handeling abusers/molesters
*Police who use their power to make others feel small
*Lawyers

Getting into any more details would probably make me break a blood vessel lol

What else grinds my gears...

People playing music at 2 AM so loud I can hear it half a mile away
Cars with the bass cranked up so far the house literally shakes
The proposed redistricting here; your rep should not live 500 miles away

In Canada, if the noise is still going on after 11 pm, we can call police to get it turned down.

Grinding my gears, snobby police officers who feel their uniform gives them all the power in the world. Not that I'm a trouble maker, but I used to drive a flashy car that was show-worthy and of course police love to pull over kids who are 17 and drive stick shift and give them BS tickets like "license plate placement" (you can see it, it's just on the right side on the front end...) and "reckless driving" (when the officer just hates you since you drive a nicer car than he does and has NO VIABLE EVIDENCE of you speeding or driving like you have road rage)
GRINDING MY GEARS, LITERALLY

Totally get it boarding pass. I had police raid my home in front of my 3 year old daughter asking "Where are the guns?" tore the place apart. All because my daughters dad (whom I left because he was abusive) called them and told them that I was some junkie and she was in danger. I invited the police inside and that's how they reacted. They were on the phone with him telling him "Oh yeah you're gonna get your daughter, don't worry about that". Well the cop wasn't very smart because I didn't get any charges and didn't even have to go to court. And after I used that whole incident against him in court to get full custody of my daughter. Freaking cops thinking because they wear a uniform they are smarter and tougher. It's rediculous how "brave" someone will feel with a gun and a badge.

Let me mention I do NOT like guns, never had a gun (asside from a bb gun) and at that time I didn't even have a steak knife in my home, a gun was the furthest thing from my mind

Another thing that grinds my gears, I've been ranting all morning about it.

Possibly triggering

The US judicial system. They can't figure out why crime is everywhere and chaos is taking over but it is because they are failing us. Instead of arresting drug users and spending tax dollars to house them, we need to be sending them to rehab clinics. They have a disease right? You don't lock anyone else up for a disease so why addictive people? Send them to rehab and that will provide more space in the jails to house the pedophiles child abusers and rapists. And don't get me started on the economy. A 5 year old child could do a better job than our government. It's simple math! When you spend a lot of money on war and on the rich, it takes away from the rest of the population. It's not rocket science it's common sense. If you see where the financial issues are stemming from you can fix them, but the government is so blinded by the money going into their pockets they don't care about the ones starved on the streets right now. But that's a whole new topic... I love America but boy is our system failing!

I could not agree more with that- it is ridiculous that they see people with problems and send them to jail/prison/// and not only that - some how some believe that jail and prisons are rehabilitation centers-- whatever- if you ever known a person to go to prison or jail (has been in more than a month) regardless of the crime, ask them if they learned anything that was useful; usually it is a yes- but the useful knowledge on the side of more criminal not getting their life together.
