Not that I'm advocating gluttony - but how we approach our meals might have some bearing on our overall frame of mind

Me? Today, I lived to eat - & it was just leftover Chinese takeout

Have a nice day

I eat to live... I do my best to limit what and how much I eat. I use to weigh close to 300pds, and I'm now down to a little under 180... don't ever want to be that heavy again...

It depends on what I'm eating, but generally I eat to live. I've always been a healthy eater and can't over eat. The other day we had some in laws over and my husband over does everything and had so much food that he served in courses - I stopped after the salad and pasta. This is what he made - soup, Alfredo pasta with shrimp, salad, green beans with garlic, dandelion greens, asparagus, chicken, more big shrimp, chicken, 3 different deserts. I honesty lost my appetite for days.

I eat to live & I'm not good at doing that most of the time. Have had weight that was way too low several times & ended up in the hospital with IV nutrition.....stress makes me feel sick & I'm not good at forcing myself to eat when I feel that way. I also tend to forget to eat many days.....will go by & think.....I'll go downstairs to the kitchen & make something, but then don't know what I want to eat, so I just don't bother to go downstairs to the kitchen to figure it out.....too lazy mostly. I enjoy food when I do eat it.....& thank heavens, we have many pot lucks during the week activities......but most of the time I don't eat much anyway.

Lynn, had to chuckle a bit about the dandelion greens.....first thing I thought was that I grow them well in my yard especially in the spring. Sounds like your husband likes to cook & must really like left-overs.....hope he doesn't throw away what isn't eaten.

I definitely live to eat Food is one of the few things I look forward to, so doing without ample amounts of it just means there is no purpose to my day.

Although i haven't been eating much lately due to depression and I've lost some weight.

I love food I really enjoy a great meal, and junk food too. I eat to live. Sadly tho I have to restrict myself as my metabolism works overtime and I lose weight or stay too thin when I eat alot. When I eat very little my body thinks I'm starving and converts food to fat.. So now I'm trying to go back to 1 meal a day to add some meat to my bones. Ugh

I eat to live. I eat because I have to.

I eat to live. I do have an Ed but food has never been my thing. There isn't much food I love and I also have chronic stomach issues. So I learnt as a child that food equals pain and it still does.

I've fought the weight war in the past - but not as bad as a lot of people I know. But I still live to eat - (ohhh do I love food!) although that doesn't mean I pig out like I used to - and I avoid fast foods at least 90% of the time - there's still that time that I'm drawn like there's a giant vacuum drawing me in - the other day it was a hot dog stand - I had 4 with everything - ahhhhhhhhh pure delight oh but self restraint was still at work - I wanted twice as many
- but the other 90% of the time - doesn't have to be dull dead & boring - whatever it is I am going to eat I'm going to love it (most of the time)

I live to enjoy life. Sometimes that joy can come from food, other times, it can seem like simply a necessity for good health to continue enjoying life. Food is one experience where you have an opportunity to be creative and selective for what suits you. Then, when you do eat simply because your body says it needs it....you can decide how to enjoy it. So some moments it is all about the food, such as visiting a wine and food festival...other times, it is simply a prop to accompany another enjoyment like a day full of your favourite movies or tv shows, a picnic, or clubbing. Let its variety help accent your life with out it controlling your life.

I can't say I live to eat but I do so love food: trying new things/experimenting and creating, cooking, planning meals when/where/what to have, and all the sensations of eating. Yummy.... hopefully!

I eat to live. But since I have a limited diet because of a chronic illness, it makes it harder since any eating has the potential to make me ill if the wrong foods become mixed in (even microscopic amounts). So really it is a hassle at this point in my life.
Thanks for this!

Eating is an enjoyable part of my life so I guess I live to eat; eating to live sounds suspiciously like "breathing to live" to me, as if one is not supposed to think about or enjoy breathing and somehow feel ashamed for good smells or taking time to "smell the roses". I eat an apple, not because it is good for me and necessary for my continuing to live but because I enjoy apples! I look forward to eating and enjoy my food as I am eating but it is not my sole focus in life anymore than it's a dreary necessity.

Despite all of the wonderful family dinners associated with love and good company over the past 50+ years, food just doesn't come close to the top of my chart in importance or interest. I only take time to eat in order to live.

Eat to live, majority of the time. Yet I don't take things to extreme like most Americans do. I have a fast metabolism.
