I saw this story on Good Morning America and wanted to pass it on. Elana Delle Donne was the number 1 recruit and chose the University of Connecticut...miles away from family. She had fame at her fingertips but she made the choice to leave 48 hrs later which puzzled many. Read the full story here:

this young woman should be the rising star of the ncaa for being a college athlete. she is what it is about. period. not the name on the best selling jersey, biggest contract after leaving school, etc.
she has the right perspective. now. i would be honored to coach her. to play along side her. to be her friend. uconn should be also proud that she declined them. that shows they recruited a woman of honor, value & what ever this woman & her sister needs...uconn should step up & offer..even tho she no longer is a part of their circle. class doesn't mean the number of titles. as an ex NCAA division III college jock , 4 yr letter winner, co captain & all that crap..(right after back in the day) this makes me stand tall as an ex varsity jock. and as a woman. god bless her. |

I believe this because when i was 14 my 21 year old sister became my gaurdian and raised me while waitressing and going to college.turns out she was counting minutes ntil she was 21 because she didn't know what was gping on but she knew our mom was
bad to live with. |
