An observation, I have noticed how in life how 'mobile phones' have taken on a different role in the 21st century.

The only time now that I feel comfortable using any phone is when I am talking to a peep that I know personally. I hate talking to a peep I have no personal relationship with over the phone. Now its just friends and family.

When doing any biz involving lets say - the elect board - job applications - or home repairs, it is now so much easier to get things done. A reply comes now @ least 10 times faster over the net than the phone.

I guess this is the e-generation...; ). if I had biz's in say taxi's and transport it would all be net based and fast. Same as take out food...yummy e-food..lol

( the 21st cen took its time getting here...lol)

p.s I live @ nowhere -ville's...lol

p.s I love e-books

i have a crappy mobile phone. i use it for texts 7 calls. i take some pix with it that i can sometimes send to people. don't send e mails on it. don't surf the web on it ..altho i can...that's why i have my computer at home. i use it as a back up...

it's nice to have for that reason.

i also find that i am different from many people in that i turn it off when i go into dr offices, don't answer when i am in a conversation with people, & if i am eating dinner with someone say at a nice place it gets shut off etc or goes unanswered (the volume is way down). it does not control my life. just because i have it it does not command 100% full time attention.

it is nice tho to order take out food on the way home from someplace tho & have it ready..i'll give you that.

I love e-books too. Nothing like curling up to a good Kindle.

By the end of the day my mobile gets shut off to recharge, but it stays off because otherwise its incessant trilling will drive me batty. I hate all phones but alas, they are a necessity of life. Sometimes even smartphones lose their signal, so one is left pirouetting in loud busy traffic with a finger jammed in my ear while trying to either re-dial or listen to someone bellowing "hello hello? Are you there?" down the phone. That's when I feel a bit of a twit.

Mobile phones do everything except make tea. One day perhaps Apple will find a tea app. Until then, I'll just go boil a kettle.

My return to work today after a week off made my phone so active that by the time 4pm arrived I wanted to drop it down the kharzi. (Brit slang for a lav incidentally).

Never let your phone rule your life.

.

Tea app, cool (my tea app is my lover..lol).. ; ).

one day we will have direct sat linked phones in our hands very cheap, and no more sims. We will down load numbers from web in to handsets, as many as we want; so no more sim changing (or having different phones for diff peeps)..ty 4 reply

We already have sat-linked phones. I have one when working abroad. Also two BGAN sat terminals: the lightweight Explorer 110 and bigger 700. These I simply connect my mobile phone to, or laptop via a simple USB line-in connector, so to access my company and friends from anywhere in the world. And at the price of a local call within a fraction of a second.

See this nifty vid: http://www.inmarsat.com/About/Inmars...textonly=False

It effectively brings the world to my (outstandingly portable) office. Now that - is technology for you!
