I have a job interview tomorrow and it's a really important one. I know I've had a bunch of interviews lately, and so far nothing's come from them which is frustrating but it could just be the companies being slow.

But I have an interview tomorrow for a combined finance / HR role with a really small specialty publisher in the K-12 market. It would let me get back into publishing, which is where I've spent almost all my career and it's an industry I love. It's a position which blends hands on financial accounting with strategy and analysis which would I would really like because I enjoy both aspects of accounting.

I also feel like this is the job I have the best shot of getting, out of all the ones I've applied to. And it's coming down to the wire for me, in terms of needing to find a job.

So any good luck wishes would be appreciated.

Definitely, splitimage, if I were writing a long short story with you as the main character ... that job with the publisher in the K-12 market is the one you would get at the end of the manuscript. And we all know that life is ever so much stranger than fiction and what a strange life we at PsychCentral live ... so my most excellent best wishes are with you!

Good Luck tomarrow splitimage, just keep going on the thought that eventually you will end up in just the right spot. It is part of the search for that spot and I will send some positive energy your way that this will be the one.

Wishing you all the luck I can muster up! You and I could write a book on the interview process, as I feel I am getting really skilled in that area. I will not give up though as I hope you feel the same. I have faith tomorrow is going to be your day!

Thank you everyone for the good wishes.

Well I survived the interview. It wasn't that it was a bad interview, it's just that the two company owners who were interviewing me were both very young and inexperienced. They didn't really know how to ask questions, so I wound up having to talk a lot and try and show that my vary disparate experiences would make me perfect for the job.

The only really weird part is they didn't give me a chance to ask any questions, which is a pretty standard part of any interview. So either they'd decided right then that they weren't interested in me, or they were clueless. I'm pinning my hopes on clueless right now.

They did seem to like the fact that I'm currently teaching, as all their staff have been teachers at some point, ok so I'm interviwing to be head of finance and you want to talk about teaching... ok.

They said I'd hear something back in a few days, so hopefully I'll get another interview with them.

On a positive note, my recruiter #1 who'd disappeared on me, reappeared today very apologetic saying she'd had a family emergency. Her status update was that Co. #1 that I interviewed with still hadn't gotten back to them about 2'nd interviews, so I still theoretically have a chance with them. Co. #2 which is the company where they couldn't seem to get an interview scheduled, they're still trying to get an interview scheduled, so they've said that they want to interview me, they just can't seem to make up their mind as to a date & time, which isn't leaving me with a good impression of the company. Co. #3 who I had the telephone interview with isn't interested in me - they want someone with more senior management experience which is fair. At least they let me know quickly.

So technically i still have 3 jobs in play and I'm desperately hoping that one of them transforms into an offer before the end of the month which is my deadline for giving notice on my apartment.

I'm just very stressed.

I bet they were clueless. usually they let you ask questions even if you did not get the job.
