I HATE my luck.

At work today I forgot my cell phone was in my pocket and went to the restroom only to have it fall out into the toilet. It stopped working of course. Now I lost all my numbers except the ones I know from memory. My phone was about 10 years old, so it was technically time for a new one. I did get a new one, I'm just upset that I lost people I went to college with's phone numbers.

Phone guy suggested I try drying the old phone out in rice overnight and see if I can get it to turn on to get my numbers off to put into my new phone. I'm hoping for the best.

Anyone have any success drying out a phone in rice and having it work afterwards (or at least turn on to retrieve numbers)?

I had a friend that drop hers into the toilet but she did successfully dry it out and carry on using it for a short while. So fingers crossed yours will recover enough to retrieve your numbers. I brought a little device that you can store your number in straight from your sim, and then copy them to a future sim, maybe look out for one

or get that stuff that martha stewart dries flowers in, it really sucks up the moisture. it should work. they might have a bag at a phone store that you put the phone in to dry it out, but pretty sure it's just that stuff.

They were all on my SIM card and I was told the SIM card was damaged because it got wet. I had them all stored in my phone memory as well, so that is what I am hoping to get to work enough to pull them off.

if you own a smartphone, you can sync all your contacts to your email account (such as Gmail) and you never have to worry about losing your contacts ever again.

As a matter of fact, I have a friend who periodically drops her phone in the toilet. She then proceeds to rescue it, open it up and blow dry it with her hair dryer. She is often successful, so if the rice technique doesn't work, you can try blow drying it. Hope this helps

Well the rice worked enough to turn the phome on and get my numbers off it. Now to program them into my new phone. That'll be a task for this weekend.

LOL I'm sorry If it's of any consolation she drops her phone before she even gets a chance to sit down, so it falls in a clean toilet.

I am EXTREMELY glad to know that, thank you very much, but ya know, unless it has one of those blue water bleach things in it (which I hate and will not use), it's still pretty yucky. Cooties are mostly very tiny and invisible! When you can SEE them... okay, now I'm just scaring myself!
