Has anyone tried doing any research with the 1940 census that is now online? I know the enumeration district I want but can only get to see the first page of 16, no matter what browser I use.

Hello Pachyderm. It's a history thing you're enquiring about? An old list on some Genweb site that lists population etc for the year 1940? I'd be intersted in knowing. I've pored over my own areas research site in Canada and had fun doing that. I doubt I can help but I will if I can. Assuming that's what this is all about. I dig the whole history thing...of anywhere really.

Aha...A new site! I googled 1940 census and found it to be a very popular new site. Also found some comments on the adding of more servers as the site had millions of hits in the first few days and wasn't functioning properly. I assume they fixed 'em and pachyderm has been happily engrossed. I'm not a Yank but I think I'll check it out anyway. Sounds interesting.

Yes, I discovered how to get the information I wanted. It was not obvious how to find it, but I did manage to see the people I was interested in.

Right on P. I just remembered when I saw you answered my post, that my grandpops brother, my great uncle[?] moved to Boston from NFLD or maybe technically Great Britain[we were a colony back then] waay back in the twenties or thirties. He died there about twenty years ago or so. Would he be in there? I was at the site and wasn't thinking...I'm going to go check it out....now i actually have a name of someone i know! My Dads brother has worked on our family tree for years. He'll maybe interested in this. Vey nice! Anyway long note but there it is. Glad you got your stuff. thanks for sparking my memory!
