Yes considering how old he is - Mr Humperdink did do OK - don't think he is going to win it for us britts though - Think Mr Serbia could sweep me off my feet.

Hi folks...just wondering what tunes the singers over there cover. Are they the same vein as in the American versions? Pop music mostly? Rock? Traditional in some cases perhaps? Just curious as there's so much music made over there that we don't usually get access to. Wish I had a super sat dish.

Hi quizzickle, they all have to sing their own song, no covers allowed. It's a Europe tradition each year, with 26 countries taking part. Here in the UK, we take it very seriously (not) and have Eurovision parties. See the #Eurovision on Twitter to see what I mean!

It's mostly pop... the Balkan folks sung heartfelt (heartbreaking?) ballads.
Russia was a trip to siberian village............. on acid. They should win.

I always wonder why, when there is such great music being written and sold, why none of these songs ever appear in Eurovision. IMO they tend to be ballads (think Celine Dionne), or quirky and never do well commercially (well not since ABBA).

 I don't think any of the songs was particularly memorable apart from Jedward and the Russian Grannies. |
