"A new interactive map of the Roman Empire that includes roads, rivers and
hundreds of sea routes allows users to calculate the travel time and costs for
traversing the ancient empire."

Sounds like fun!

That's really amazing. Coincidentally, I've been reading a book...Over the Top and Back Again by Brandon Wilson. He's a hardcore hiker, and this book is about hiking the old Roman roads in Europe. In this particular hike, he starts in Slovenia, moves over the Alps in Italy, etc. He describes how a hiker can choose various routes which are color coded for hikers (all old Roman roads).
A bit off topic...while the book is interesting, I became miffed at the author, whose whole life is flitting from one long hike to another, setting up residence in one location after another, all for the purpose of pursuing these hikes. He doesn't have to work for a living, apparently. Or maybe he makes money from his writing, which would be a good thing, I guess, but I felt a bit envious.
Thanks for this!
