I'm exhausted, but I'm officially done packing. YAY. A friend came over to help me today, and she turned out to be a packing demon, plus even better, she's in better shape than I am so didn't minc hauling all the bags of trash out to the curb, and all the recycling out, while I kept packing.

Today we finished the linnen closet, 2 china cablinets, all the knick-nacks in the living room, the electronics, and the biggest job, the kitchen.

She arrived just before noon, and we finished shortly after 7. I drove her and several boxes of food and cleaning supplies that otherwise would have been tossed home, then went out for a nice dinner, as a treat, at Boston Pizza.

I then went back to the apartment to pick up a carload of stuff to bring back to St. Clares. I figure I have about 2 more carloads of stuff to bring to St. Clare's which I'll do tomorrow and Tues.

Mocvers are coming tomorrow morning at 10, and all I have left to do is clean out the fridge, then go with the movers to the storage place, to fill out the paperwork for storage.

Then Tues. I'm meeting the cleaners at 8:30, to get the apartment cleaned.

I can't believe that the end is in sight. I'm exhausted but relieved, and can't wait for Aug. 1.

Wow, I'm envious! I couldn't afford cleaners and had to clean the entire house myself (luckily some friends helped). I'm still not done.

Glad to hear the packing and moving is over; that's great!

Avidreader - I can't really afford cleaners either, but I know myself, that I'm not up to cleaning either physically or emotionally. This move has just wiped me out, and I was having a tough time coping to begin with.

The movers showed up at 10:30 and I was very happy with them. They were professional, fast and took great care handling all my furniture, they wrapped all the delicate and glass pieces in heavy cloths before moving. I went with them to the storage place, and did the rental paperwork, while they unloaded the truck. We were all finished by 3.

I then went and had a cold drink and surfed the web at Starbucks to rest and cool down, then headed back to my apartment to fill up a carload to bring to St. Clare's.

I'm meeting the cleaners tomorrow morning at 8:30 and I need to get there earlier, as I still have to clean out the fridge, but that won't take me long, as everything is just being tossed into garbage bags. I then have another carload to bring to St. Clare's.

My room at St. Clare's is a mess right now, as I have crates, and bags, and suitcases everywhere. I can't really organize until I put up my shelves. Not sure if I'll do that tonight or wait until tomorrow. I'm pretty exhausted.

I'll be so glad when tomorrow is done, and I can say goodbye to that apartment forever, and get on with my new life.

Good luck tomorrow, splitimage; I will be happy for you when your move is over. I'm glad you were able to get a bit of a break today.

Clare is my younger daughter's middle name -- in honor of St. Clare! It's also my older daughter's confirmation name.

I know you're worried about all this, and this next step is scary--but I think it's going to be a good one for you, splitimage. I've been in for alcohol rehab, which was the best thing I've ever done for myself; and I was in a psych unit when I got my bipolar diagnosis. That turned my life around and probably saved it. These big chances we take are huge and I'm so proud of you for making what had to be a very difficult decision

I hope you'll be able to stay in touch, and let us know how things are going. I'm going to keep you in my heart and mind. you won't be alone there--and if you think you are, just remember us here.

Remember we will be remembering you ...
Roadie

Thanks Roadie,

But there's been some confusion - I'm not going anywhere, at least not for the forseeable future. I've done rehab and psychward stay's and St. Clare's is neither. It's a subsidized sober living facility run by the St. Vincent de Paul Society and is for women with a history of mental health and substance abuse problems. It's considered transitional housing, but I can stay here for up to 2 years. I'm planning on being here at least until I'm done school next spring.

I know I did post that I was nervous about moving into St. Clare's as it was a big adjustment to go from living alone for 20+ years to sharing a residence with 29 other women, especially since I had to share a room when I first moved in. But I got my own room at the beginning of July, and it's really nice, it even had room for me to bring an armchair from my apartment and will have room for one of my harps, once I get it organized.

I feel really lucky to have gotten into the residence, my rehab put in the referal for me back in Dec., as it's clean, it's subsidized so the rent is cheap, and you have to be sober to live here, so that'll help me stay sober, which is what I need to build up some sober time. And it's close to the school that I'll be going to in the fall.

So really it's a chance for a clean slate start.

But I'll still be around PC lots.

OK, I tried to post just this:

Yay!

And I got a message (several times) saying that was too short! So I'm hoping that by adding this text I can successfully post.
