Id say 50% of life is boring and mundane... Its almost torture. Life isnt like the movies which is disappointing- theres not constant action and explosions- heros and villians- crazy plots- oh well..

I'm sorry to see you think so much of life is boring and mundane. I think life is exciting and wonderful--it's what you make of it, really. Even when I am slaving away in the salt mine I am thinking about cool stuff or talking silly stuff with the part-timers. Taking the bus home is an adventure--especially if Joe Pedal-to-the-metal is driving.

What can you do to add some excitement to your life?

Yeah, sometimes life really is boring. So you need to add some excitement to it. Here are a few things I've done that will get the adrenalin flowing and add some suspense and excitement:
  1. Don't use the bathroom before heading home from work. Gamble that you won't get stuck in a traffic jam and wet your pants. Plus you get all those physical sensations of really having to go. Turns a boring commute into a real event!
  2. Don't renew your car license tabs on time. This makes each trip one of excitement and suspense. Will a cop show up behind you? Will he notice the tabs are expired? Keep your eyes peeled for cops, and maybe you can turn down a side street to keep them from getting near you. A simple trip to the market can become a suspenseful adventure!
  3. Don't pay bills on time. See how far they'll go in threatening to shut off your power, water, whatever. Race down to their office at 4:45 pm on Friday and see if you can pay it before they close! If you lose, you may not have power all weekend ..
See? There are lots of ways you can make life more exciting. Use your imagination!!!

I'm sure others on this forum have their own ideas .... anyone?

Personally, I enjoy the boredom because I consider it major relaxation time to wind down after hours at work of stressfully dealing with the public. I appreciate the boredom. It is the avoidance of the distasteful chores that I have to conquer

I'm in the same boat, totally under-stimulated.

I find life to be a mixture of boring and stressful. I have not been paying attention to how to be stimulated in the right ways, but I'm working on it now.
Thanks for this!

I say again, sometimes you have to make your own excitement!! Life doesn't just happen to you, you have some responsibility and power for making your own life. If nothing exciting is happening, find exciting things to do!! Don't just feel powerless and like excitement is owed to you.

When you cut out repetitive tasks how much time do we have that is really ours? You get hungry so you have to eat so you have to go to the bathroom so you get sleepy so you have to sleep so you can wake up and shower so you can go to work so you can get hungry......How many times have you done the same old job? Had the same tired conversations? I wholeheartedly understand what the OP is saying. With that being said it's not really exciting but I try to do something just for me at least once a week. Whether it's go to the casino, go on a long drive, go see a movie, go play a game of darts, get myself lost in the woods on a hike just something to break the freaking monotony.
