After losing two of my jobs, amounting to about 12k/year, I finally got my food stamps back! They had canceled them in July saying that I never turned in my renewal forms. Not only did I fax them twice, but I sent all materials three times via snail mail and called my case worker at least 17 times. I finally just gave up.

Then there was the phone hearing today, which I had requested. My case worker said that he just discovered today, that indeed I HAD returned all the documents as requested but that were filed under someone else with the same name as me.

SERIOUSLY?? Same case number, same social security number, same address as me too?? Wow. At least this was a good opportunity to tell my daughter what a bureaucracy is.

Just so happy that after 2 months of living on soup and rice, I can finally buy my kids some healthy food!

I am so glad it finally worked out for you. Well done on your persistence.

We don't have such a thing as food stamps in SA. If you've got no money, it is just tough luck. So sad. Many starving people. I can count my blessings!

In the county I live if they cut off your stamps or denied them based on their error you got the money credited for the months you should have gotten on your ebt card. A friend of mine got 6 months of back benefits she should have received this way.
