The above article and video talk in length about Rush's nomination. The nominees are:

Randy Newman
Kraftwerk
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Heart
The Meters
Donna Summer
N.W.A.
Public Enemy
Procol Harum
The Marvelettes
Deep Purple
Chic
Rush
Albert King
Paul Butterfield Blues Band

You can vote on the RnR Hall of Fame website if you'd like. My vote for the most important band on the list was: Kraftwerk - the band that introduced electronic dance music.
Thanks for this!

Some worthy nominees there. Honestly before this was announced in the news I had assumed Rush must have already been inducted. The sheer numbers [attendance/$$$/ catalogue volume etc] they produced during their career as well as the many important musicians who listed them as a huge influence....I really thought they must in already.

Purple will get in this year for sure. Jon Lord needs in. Perhaps Kraftwerk for their groundbreaking form. Albert King is likely because he's one of the founding fathers during the turnover from blues to rocknroll and the only one on the list in this capacity.

It's a tough call. All good nominees and played their part. Rush has some mighty competition. It's a chuckle anyway. Like the Grammys. Rush has been stupendously influential. They'll be in there at some point but it's the fans they work for not a 'name on a wall' in Cleveland. Well that sounds a bit silly but they will get in there soon. They DO deserve it but so do so many. It's not a contest after all.
Thanks for this!

Finally after all this time. I guess us Rush fans should feel vindicated and the folks at Rolling Stone who have hated this band with a passion have finally admitted what we have always known, that Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart are three truly legendary muscians, who never compromised their vision, did what they wanted to do and earned a devoted fan base that sticks with them for decades not months.

Good look to my favorite Canadians and to the rest of a worthy field as well.
Thanks for this!

I really hope that Rush gets in - they deserve it. They're huge internationally, and play some absolutely brilliant music. I was a huge fan in high school, and I swear listenning to their music got me through high school. I went and saw the live last year and they're still putting on awesome shows. I'm seeing them again this year, later this month.

I don't know how big a part this played in them getting nominated, but this past summer, a local radio station put on a "Rush the Hall" campaign to collect on-line signatures in a pettition to get Rush into the hall of fame.
