...more recently known as Weston State Hospital, in Weston, WV is a massive and impressive structure, the second largest handcut stone bldg in the world, next to the Kremlin. Built in the early 1800's, it was recently purchased by a contractor who is now using it for "ghost tours." Some of the reasons people were committed during its early days include:
  • over eating
  • hard study
  • seduction
  • reading the bible too much
  • affairs
  • infatuations
  • excitability
  • falling off a horse
  • political excitement
  • novel reading
  • female problems
The list of other reasons is vast, and some hilarious...like "masturbating while smoking." I particularly like "novel reading" and "political excitement."

Here's a pic of the structure, which will show up as a thumbnail, but you can click on it to enlarge it. I'll also find a link to the website.
