I saw this news article on a flock of birds that got deadly drunk on fermented berries: http://www.livescience.com/24550-dru...d-berries.html
This really does happen. When I was a kid, I saw a flock of birds falling over themselves on the lawn under a tree (forget what kind), and noticed mushy looking berries from the tree scattered everywhere. ![]() |

guess we will start seing signs on trees warning birds to 'don't eat and fly', and cops confiscating drunk birds wings liike they do drunk peoples cars!!!!

Deer also get tipsy on fermented muscadines and scuppernongs ... !!!
And we thought only humans got besotted ... !!! ... ![]() For those who don't know ... These are wild grapes that grow in the SE USA ... The muscadines have a purple skin and the scuppernongs have a bronze skin ... WARNING: They're so delicious that once you get started grazing on 'em you won't stop until your tummy hurts ... !!! ![]() |

Where I used to live, we had a pretty short distance to a lake with a rich bird life. Cranes especially got drunk every year, and us kids had to go on field trips to watch them. Everyone should see this, they thought. Feels really weird looking back at, this being seen as a normal thing to send kids to.
