I think about 40. I drive a zipcar, ie I rent a car for $8usd/hr or $64/day and the price of fuel is included, up to 180 miles per day. usually I take the bus, $1.50 per round trip.

Wow, I wish the bus was cheap here. If I go into town and back within a set of hours I pay what would be 4.4 USD and if having to buy two single tickets that would be 7.4 USD. And that is within the city. If you go outside the city it's much more expensive.

I live in a rural area over an hour from the nearest transit system; I have to drive everywhere.

I spent twenty dollars, my gas tank is tiny. I live in the metropolis of Houston but I usually stay within twenty miles of home and I don't go over about twenty dollars a week in gas.

My car only has an 11 gallon tank. I usually run it down next to nothing then fill up. With gas prices what they are here in Indy I spend about $35 every 9-10 days. I voted $30 because I'm split right between $30 and $40

I always run my tank down pretty far, so I end up putting in between 11 and 12 gallons when I fill up, which costs me around $38. I drive very little though, so I fill up maybe every couple of months.

I usually don't fill up until my gas light comes on. My Honda Accord has a 18.5 gallon tank. So my last 17 gallon fill-up at $3.41/gal was about $58 USD. I usually fill up every other week. In my area, public transportation is very poor and I've never used it. I live in a suburb of a small metropolitan area. For example, my commute to work is 17 miles, mostly highway.

Gas prices have dropped since my last fill up. My H purchased gas at $3.33/gal yesterday for his Toyota Tacoma; 15.57 gal was $52 USD.

CE, how does gas tax affect how much prices are where you live? USA federal gas tax is 18.4 cents/gal. We North Carolina drivers get bilked with the highest state tax in the USA at 39.15 cents/gal.

I have an 18 g tank as well but I never let it go below half now that it is so cold with the winter months are here. It works out to be about $30-$35 with gas prices right now and that is about every two weeks. I am grateful I don't have the long 2 hour commute to school this semester and that classes are right in town just 6 miles away has helped tremendously.

I'm aware that the gas tax is very low in the US. Around here I think about half the price of petrol is tax.

PS:

Just googled it. Petrol tax is approximately 30%.

Now that gas prices are back down, approximately $40, 2 to 3x per week

(The $5/gallon a couple weeks ago was absolutely killing me)

Like Mr Venomous I live in the boonies. My commute is 35 miles one way. Plus I drive around alot for work. Add to that I drive a small pick-up (need it because I have a farm). I spend a small fortune on gas each month.

((((Liz)))) I know what you mean...when it was at the $5 mark, I was literally taking days off work because I just didn't have the money for gas, so I couldn't get to work (my commute is 70 miles r/t day as well). I would happily take public transpo, but ours is horrible here. The worst!

So I end up staying home

I drive a V8 Dodge Ram 1500....lucky to get 12mpg.....when the price of gas was up here, I was spending over $100 for a tank of gas. Luckily I don't work & can stay home a lot...but there were times at the end of the month where I couldn't go anywhere & my truck would sit on empty in my driveway....I would have just enough gas in my gas can to throw into my truck when the next month check came in so I could get to the gas station.

When I volunteered at the Horse Park last month....I set aside $250 for gas that month just so I could volunteer....it was worth it.....but in reality, I paid dearly to volunteer.

With the price of gas down, it now runs me around $80+ for a tank of gas......it's a 25+ gallon tank.....so I do get a lot of gas....but with the bad mpg, it's a good thing it does have a huge tank otherwise I would be living in the gas station every time I drive by one.

Keeping the lawn tractor filled with gas for mowing is also adds to my monthly bills.

I need my truck for hauling my large horse trailer.......thought about buying a small car for driving around in, but then thought about the price & the monthly insurance that would cost....& thought...could just put that money into gas for the truck.....& it would at least buy a couple more tanks of gas during the month.......so I just still keep truckin only.

Have to admit, I love my truck.....it's got both the front & back seat. Everyone kids me about the truck being too large for me....a little 5'2" person who weighs about 100lbs driving this huge truck & hauling around a large trailer.....on well....love my truck..better than all the sports cars I have owned bad gas mileage & all.

I have a gas guzzler - I would love to part with it - but it's paid for. . .
2004 Buick Rendezvous... 16 gallons last week. But I get to work one day a week from home - so it's not as bad as it used to be. . . I commute 25 miles each way.

Over in Australia its about $1:40 per litre. How many litres are in a gallon?
I dont drive much so i pay about $40 AU per fortnight.
I think there is a lot of tax involved.

I put $15 in not because it would fill my tank but because it's all I could scrounge up! To fill 'er up it's about $52-$55.
