Whinging alert! Anyone tired of reading my complaints and whinging about my dental stuff best stop reading now.

Can't remember if I posted that the endodontist took me to the cleaners. Did root canals on teeth that needed to be pulled. My primary dentist is so mad at him he is now refusing to refer people to the guy. Wish he'd made that decision before I got scr*wed.

So, primary dentist referred me to an oral surgeon for an evaluation. He, my primary dentist and I worked out a treatment plan for the mess in my mouth.

Yesterday was oral surgery. As with every step of this nightmare, complications developed once he started the surgery. Surgery that was scheduled to last an hour to an hour and a half lasted THREE hours! I won't go into details to avoid barfing people out. Bottom line is that I feel like someone drove a Mack truck through my mouth. I'm back to eating liquid or mushy foods for the next couple of weeks. In spite of steroids, anti-inflammatories and ice packs the side of my face is swollen. The steroids are supposed to increase appetite. They have the opposite effect on me - no appetite. Plus the antibiotic makes me sick to my stomach.

The primary dentist had taken an impression and had the lab make me a partial denture to replace the teeth that were pulled. THEY MADE IT WRONG!!!! So I have this HUGE gap in the front of my mouth where the teeth were pulled. I had arranged to have today off from work to recover from the surgery. I ended up having to go in. Talking is a large part of my job, only with no front teeth I sound drunk when I talk. NOT a good thing at work.

Tonight I've got a major case of "sorry for myself." I know I will heal and feel better. When this is all over I am going to have nice looking teeth (my teeth have always embarrassed me). I know my current mood will lift, but tonight I feel cr*ppy.

My O My! You have reason to whine if you want to. I was in the dental field for years, so I understand what you are going through. Hopefully your general dentist can find a good lab to get your teeth right. I am looking at oral surgery myself as soon as I can afford it. I am so self conscious of me teeth or should I say lack of? lol! I wish you the best and hopefully you will be back eating solids again soon, one can get sick of milk shakes pretty quick!
Thanks for this!

I've taken a bit of a break from dental work, but I've got a mess in my mouth, too, and my dentist isn't particularly good at managing pain. Plus, I supposedly had an abscess cleared up and a root canal put in, but the flap of gum that was always filling with the abscess fluid is still filling with it! (No pain, but that tells me the infection wasn't cleared up.)

I've told my dentist I want WHITE crowns, even if they don't match my yellow teeth, because I plan to get all white crowns for the teeth that need them, and whitening for my real teeth, but he keeps insisting that I get darker crowns that match my teeth. I see the point of how it appears, but it's my mouth, isn't it? I'm the one paying?

As much as I love the modern technology and treatments used in the office (especially that TV; helps keep my mind off the work), I'm thinking of looking for another dentist. He's so horrible with that needle, and doesn't always prevent pain. On top of that, one time, I told him I still felt the drill, so he jabs me with more lidocaine or whatever the numbing medicine is, and that stuff makes me tremble, so the second dose actually had me frightened I was going to have a seizure. And my tooth still hurt, but a little less, and I didn't say anything, because I was scared to have more numbing medicine injected into me.

And today, I'm supposed to drive to a dental lab AGAIN because the crown they sent from my first visit is too light. However, I meant to cancel that appointment, which is today, because my bf won't be near in case I get panicky (driving that far away from home makes my anxiety jump); he's going to a family wedding in another state.

Not trying to make it all about me; just trying to let you know I understand your complaints!

Definitely need to vent! I am so sorry to hear how that went and hoping things ease up in the days ahead. Sending hugs your way and an appetitie with foods you love! (((((((LL)))))))
