I took a pic of my booth at the art show. It is today and tomorrow. Such nice artists there...feels like "homecoming!"

I draw. I love portraits.
But I'm still an amateur art student and wasn't actually running anything at the show, just helping out. It was still a great experience.

Yes...art shows are a learning experience, and I started out like you. This evening, though, was also a "wake-up" call for me. I had people coming into my booth telling me they had bought some of my "artrox" years..MANY YEARS...ago! I feel old! I AM old! In some aspect, I've saturated the market here for my work. If I want to make any real money with my art in the current form, I will probably have to venture further outward, and not sure I'm up to that. Anyway...just sharing with you.

You have so much to choose from! It's obvious you really enjoy it, or there wouldn't be so many. Of course, I hope you'll have much less soon, because you'll have sold them all. If you like to paint rocks, maybe you could paint an entire mountain! I don't know if there are any mountains where you could legally do it (because of people wanting to preserve nature in its natural state), but it would certainly garner you some attention if you even attempted it! You could do a video blog with entries each day on your progress (and what you're doing when you're not painting), and I know there would be people watching. (They watched--well, read the blog of--that one woman who cooked all of Julia Child's recipes from one of her books--which they made a pretty good movie about--so why shouldn't they watch you?)

See? I have ideas! Good ones! But they require a lot of ambition!

Maybe you can find an internet site to sell through.....one that already exists.....that may take a % of the sale price....but that's still better than not selling anything.

Of course, you could always get your own web site set up for selling your artrox......that would be a fun internet site to put together.

Your work is beautiful.

I don't know how you find the time to do all your art work. I make gifts for my friends (beading) & also at Christmas, I paint ornaments (acrylic)....but I seem to do it on demand, & don't have the time between to really build up any inventory.

Ugh, Yesterday (Thursday morning), I was searching madly for the picture on my phone of my friend's freisian horse that I took last year....it was an awesome head picture that I wanted to use as the model for painting on the ornament we were exchanging at the party scheduled for noon. I had never painted a freisian horse head before. I had painted 2 horse heads last year on ornaments for a couple of friends. I had all year to get ornaments painted & find pretty horse heads to use as examples.....but have been too busy with life & house to get the painting done that I wanted to do.

Also had a lady at church want me to print out poems & paint borders around the poems.......I did about 7 of those for her.....turned out nice.....would be a something nice to paint & sell at craft shows.....but have a hard time even setting down & doing that beyond what someone actually wants.

Our Christmas tree at church didn't have a tree top for on it.....something I thought last year.....I found the perfect wooden angel to paint......I had it all sanded & ready to paint early this year....but didn't finish the last touched until the afternoon before our hanging of the greens & the dedication of the angel in memory of a wonderful lady at church that had died of cancer in January of this year.

Just like with my beading of necklaces & earings & bracelets....I seem to not do anything until I am inspired by the person I want to make something for.....but I have so much materials sitting around my house....half of my computer room is a table specially set up for doing my crafts.....you would think I would get around to doing the things & have things ready for gifts rather than doing everything at the last minute.

Thought how wonderful your table full of artrox looks & what fun you had to have had painting them to be able to let all that inspiration out from inside........

Guess it's sort of like I was with my flute....I would practice before concerts & work really hard at getting the music known & playing it perfect.....but between concerts, the flute would sit around waiting for the next concert or performance I had scheduled.

It would be nice to just sit down & let all that creativity out when it's not under pressure.....interesting....never really looked at it this way before & realized just how I was doing the creative things in my life.

Would be nice if I had less things that I have to do around the farm & more time to just do the things I really want to do.....but wonder even if I had the time if I would really set down I paint or do beading.......& I don't even have ADD.

My huge painting project this year has been stripping the paint off the wood around the front door & repainting that.....still have one more coat of paint to get done this weekend so it will be dry by next Wednesday morning when the guy is coming to install my storm door that I bought from Lowe's last APRIL .......& that painting ISN"T CREATIVE in the least....only satisfaction with that is getting a project FINISHED......don't even have anything really pretty as a result of all that work.

I hope you can find a place where you can sell your artrox through.....so that you can actually make some money off of your awesome talent.....like I said however, it's great that you have been able to let your creativeness out & have so many artrox that you have painted & you don't just paint them when you need a gift for a friend or someone wants you to paint one for them.........going with the inspiration is so much of being artistic....getting it out of the head & onto the medium.........everything seems to get stuck in my head.

Glad you had fun with the other artists as the art show.....that is most of the fun of it anyway.

The Native American Indians in our country did a lot of painting on the rocks before it was called graffiti, it was called petroglyphs.....seen all over California, Arizona, Nevada & other states around there.....definitely a different form of artrox.

You might want to look at getting your own domain name, whether you set up a site now or later (if at all). Artrox.com is taken, but appears to be for sale. That would probably cost you at least a couple hundred, though. Still, you can come up with alternative names that might work that aren't taken and get one for about $10 per year, like your name + art: eskieloverart.com (or you might prefer to use your real name; this is just an example), eskiesart.com, eskiesartrox.com, etc.

Eskie! You sound a lot like me. I DO have other things pulling on me, but quite honestly, I just ignore them! There are lots of things I need to do here on my little fixer-upper house, and it plagues me truly, but working on my art gives me peace. Also, since I teach middle school art, coming home from a hectic day with students, I often relax with drawing on my rocks or making my "Hurricane Hats." I also do collage and mosaics. There are so many things I want to do with art, there really isn't enough time!
That said, if I had a farm like you do, I'd be overwhelmed!
I just have a little box house and three pets, and sometimes THAT is overwhelming!
Love
Patty

I just did a "cave art/rock art segment with my students, telling them that this was the "original" grafitti!

I just got home from finishing this show. I did well, esp. compared to the other artists there. Met so many nice people too. But, boy, is it a hard way to earn money. I'm exhausted, and I think a lot of it is due to my social anxiety. I interact well with all the people who come thru, and truly, my art sells itself, but it is still hard. I put my best face forward!

What a way to help with your social anxiety thought! And make money at the same time. Who knew?

Art and being creative is a true way to find peace, isn't it.

Happy you had fun at your art show.
