As a girl I find the easiest thing to take my mind off of the stressful things in my life is to talk about beauty products and natural remedies for beauty ailments. Feel free to join in, men too!

So you are standing in your bathroom. Your makeup, shower and other toiletries are in front of you. What are those products that stick out most to you? aka What are those products you cannot live without because it would make it impossible to do your routine without them?

Mine are:

Aquaphor
Self tanner
Dr. Bronner's soap
Moroccan oil
Benetint (the original reddish one)

Any brand of non-frizzy hair conditioner

Love the Bath & Body Orange Ginger soap, shampoo & conditioner...not the one to use when I'm trying to go to bed & sleep....somehow that oder provides a sensation of energy.......but it's a great way to start the day.

At night I like to use their sensual Amber or the sunflower soap that CVS carries.

One product that has become very important is the fizzy stuff for soaking your feet in from Bath & Body.....I would go to bed & my feet & legs would cramp so bad, I was in the worse pain.....decided to try that one time when nothing was helping & I needed SLEEP.....socked my feet in hot water with that fizzy stuff disolved for about 15 minutes....went back to bed & NO CRAMPS.....definitely worth it.

I don't do makeup or face creams....then make my skin feel smothered & I hate that feel....just like I don't like putting body cream on my arms or legs for the same reason. Maybe it's because of the humidity where I have moved to from the desert in Calif.....but creams even if I rub them in....seem to sit there & make me sweat & just feel miserable.

I do use sun screen when I'm out on my lawn tractor or out doing gardening.....& definitely a good bug spray to keep those dang insects like the chiggars, ticks, & mosquitoes away. Wish they made better smelling bug spray....but I did find one that is better.....no point in using perfume just doesn't blend with the bug spray oder.

Well, that's not quite the post I sure you were expecting as a reply. LIfe on the farm is far different from when I was living & working in the city in my engineering career but even then, I had so many bad experiences with makeup & being allergic to it & having my eyes swell shut, that I gave up on makeup.....long ago......chap stick is the closest thing I get to lipstik for years.

Every once in awhile, I do enjoy wearing perfume......love the smell of it on others but when I go outside most of the time, it's not to be around anything but the bugs & I don't need them being attracted to me for any reason.

I don't use too many beauty products, as I do better with simple clean & moisturizers...

But, I MUST always have in my possession a bottle of (unscented) Neutrogena Body Oil. It is essential and so comforting, so wondrous the way it works! A light veil of it over damp skin, and I am good, all through the Spring, Fall, and Winter...no dry itchy skin for me.
Thanks for this!

I am a very practical lady. All I need besides the basics* is baby oil and petroleum jelly.

*My soap must be unscented.

That works for me. I could even do w/o the hairbrush as long as I have my fingers. Gotta have a razor and shaving cream too.

I guess thats one good thing about my body, no need to shave.

Also, I like hair brushes but I remember the time I went to our old summer house and I realized there wasn't a single comb or brush left there. My hair was quite a mess, so I combed it with a fork. I guess you use what you have!!

Things I can not live without are food, water and shelter from the weather.

As for beauty/hygeine products I'm not a girly girl. I don't wear make-up, use body creams and the like. I like Dial lavender soap for the smell, but would go on living if they stop making it. I like Pantene shampoo, but again could survive without it. On work days I need a good stiff hair gel to shape my hair, but could also live without it.
Thanks for this!

Oil of Olay

I started using it in my 20's, and I'm 63 now. Most people think I'm in my late 40's!!! That's good enough for me!!! When I tell them I have a 37 yr old daughter, they about CRAP! LOL

- Lip Balm (Carmex/Chap Stick)
- Lotion (Any kind really)

My shampoo has to be made for dry hair and I have to have Paul Mitchell Conditioner. Other than that, I'm pretty basic.
Thanks for this!

Food, Water, TP, Deodorant is the must haves.

I recently found that washing and creaming up with Bath and Body works products have really been helping my mood, so when I am in a real funk I use them and look forward to using them.

Recently, my increasing a happy mood has been very important to me, so I cant live without it

I've been using a prescription Vitamin A cream since age 18, originally for acne but its also great for wrinkles. I don't look my age and think this cream is credit. I use this Garnier under eye concealer - Skin Renew dark circle and it rolls on - its by far the best under eye concealer I've ever used and is so light. I love tea so wouldn't want to be without that. Enjoy having a blow dryer too. I found a inexpensive brand of makeup called Essense and what a relief from the typical overpriced brands - you can get compact face powder for $2.99 and nail polish for a dollar.
