I have a brown marmorated stink bug in my house. Wiki tells me they often come into houses during the winter but they don't say what to do with the bug. I don't want to scare it or smoosh it because I don't want it to release its odor.

Do what now?

lol Yoda... I don't know. When a bug that I don't want to kill gets in the house I usually try to sweep it into a dustpan and toss it out the door and wish it luck

Is it just hanging out waiting for you to do something?
Thanks for this!

Maybe catch it in a jar and release it outside, preferably some distance from your home?

We can't see it now. It is somewhere in my son's room and the lighting is dim because the electric doesn't work there.

I ordered 2 battery operated lanterns on ebay this week to help him see so he can clean his room and clear the way for an electrician.

Yeah, I hate being in a dark room when I'm not ready for sleep yet. We have electricity; but every now and then, the lightbulb needs changing.

The bug has been captured with a styrofoam cup and envelope and released outside.

Awe - I LOVE stink bugs . Really, they are such lovely insects, and I like watching them run around on our lettuce in the summer when I am attempting to photograph them. Believe it or not stink bugs are true bugs . I've taken numerous photos of stink bugs and play with them outside

Thank you Yoda for not killing the little fellow .
