I just filed a complaint with "Ripoff Report" against Quicken Loans. I applied with them online to refinance my house at a lower rate. In doing this, I had to make a $500 payment to start the process. I had valued my house very conservatively at $120,000 after making at least $40,000 in improvements since purchasing it 7 years ago at the price of $87,000. All seemed to be going well, getting frequent contacts from Quicken about the progress of the application. The local appraiser contacted me and I arranged for a neighbor to let him in since I had to work and he insisted on coming during the day. The appraisal came back as the same I had paid fot the house 7 years ago, stating on the appraisal form "no improvements made to the property in 15 years."
Needless to say, I was very dismayed. I then looked online and found hundreds of complaints of the same practice...with people losing their $500 "good faith" deposit, one article stating that Quicken makes far more from this deposit than from actual refinancing. I'm angry ! I filed a complaint with Ripoff Report. I revealed all the contacts, including the "appraiser." I'm also contacting the Federal Trade Commission. Just last summer, I had considered selling my house, and I had numerous realtors begging me to let them list it for $135,000. I even had one woman contacting me directly who was eager to purchase it for this price. Sorry for going on like this. It's the holidays...eh! Patty ![]() |

That's a cheap price for a house, particularly in my city. Maybe things are different over there.
I'm sorry you were ripped off. Hate the feeling of powerlessness. Merry Xmas. |
