As a New Year's eve gift to myself I bought a little .99 bag of spicy rice crackers. The cat insists those must be cat treats and comes running every time I open the bag and start crunching. He then becomes disgusted when I offer him one, he sniffs it and realizes it is not his favorite cat treat. If I gave him a cat treat as often as he thought he needed one (and yes, he has already had plenty today, especially if you add in the number of his brother's he ate), I'd be broke, he'd be as big as a house and my spicy rice crackers would still not be cat treats!

Yes, my cat feels pity and disgust over my lack of good judgment when it comes to snacks. Tuna or the random bug would be much tastier, according to Fluffy.

I know, they are alert and aware of every crinkle of cellophane that proceeds from the next room. And the look of confusion that comes, when they realize you're NOT opening cat treats-----priceless, and hysterical.
You know, most cats are convinced the world revolves around them, and will probably never be divested of that notion, not for all eternity!!! (Most still remember when they were worshipped as gods and goddesses, so be prepared for more odd looks!) |

my gerbils know the sound of a packet opening and all 5 stand at the front of their cages looking at me as though to say ...well come on hurry up we are waiting! even if i am opening a pack of firelighters!
they do the same thing when i rollin with my supper, waiting to see if i will give them some. sometimes i give them a few grains of cooked rice or veg which they love. just goes to show even the smalest animals have good memories! |

My cats come running anytime I open a can. If I need to catch them for the vet sometimes that's a good lure.
