It looks like I will most likely be making a cross country move in just a few short weeks, and while I am very excited, I am also very scared.
My family is moving to California (from New York) at the end of the summer, and I have been looking for jobs out there, mainly live-in nanny jobs so I can have work and a place to stay but be a bit more independent...and I have found a family that I have clicked well with and just have 1 more step of an interview type thing that if all goes well we will make a concrete plan, and I will be heading out there at the end of this month. Anyway...a few questions: 1) How do you move yourself across the country? I've never moved by myself much less across the country...I have way more stuff than I could ever bring...so how do I choose what to bring? 2) What is the best way to meet people in a new place? Since I'll be a nanny it's not like most of my day will be spent socializing with others my age, but I will have weekends free. 3) Anything else I should know? |

I am at work right now (which is at home as well), but I'd be happy to answer your questions and help as much as I can. You may also want to take a look at by blog IdahoSwampRat. Might give you a few ideas. www.idahoswamprat.tumblr.com. I moved from Florida to Idaho last August, 2,600 miles. Would that count?
