There were some dialogues posted yesterday that caused some pain and hard feelings. I have a very quick temper and used to blurt things out without thinking. I also worked for a bully who was mercyless. I suffer from depressions and MS. I have seen and experienced how words can destroy a person and my heart goes out to the ones offended. I follow three basic guides to help me control myself and not cut someone off at the knees with my words. I decided to share them. Maybe they will help someone else.
1. I try very hard to practice the golden rule. I try to treat others the way I want to be treated. 2. Although I am not really religious I wholeheartedly try to live by this snippet from a well known prayer - forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass agains us. 3. I don't know where it came from but I have had a card on my refrigerator for years that list three things to consider before speaking. They are: -Is it the truth? -Is it necessary? -Will it help the situation? If I cannot answer, "yes" to these three questions, I don't say anything. |

![]() BTW, the questions you have on your fridge sound like what Dear Abby has written. And that's good advice, too! |
