Depending on the reason I am down and what I am seeking. Sometimes, when I am really down, sorrowful songs help me feel I am not alone so songs like Everbody Hurts by REM is good for those moments.
When I just feel blah and am seeking something to cheer me up like the winter blahs....I will often listen to all summer songs. If I feel like life is too serious andd just needs some fun, I will listen to happy songs like Stutter by Marianas Trench, or Centerfield by John Fogerty. If I feel that humanity is failing us, I listen to songs like Garth Brooks We Shall Be Free, and The Change, Micheal Jackson's song from Free Willy, etc. If I just feel like I need motivation...Pump It is a great one by The Black Eyed Peas. If seeking self confidence and a push to keep going....any songs about believing in one's self, belief in faith, belief in each other etc gives hope. |

I give Chris Cornell a lot of credit.
I thought the lyrics to this song were meaningless. Upon some maturation, I realize that the songs protagonist is just depressed. Meaning: Happy music isn't happy if we attach painful memories to it. |
