Victory for Victor Meldrew, as pessimistic people 'live longer' - Telegraph

Quote:
Older people blighted by pessimism and fear for the future are more likely to live longer, according to scientists.

A study, into 40,000 adults across ten years, has found those with low expectations for a “satisfying future” actually led healthier lives.

In contrast, people who were “overly optimistic” about the days ahead had a greater risk of disability or death within ten years.

Sort of crappy.... that is my take on it... live longer in more in fear and worry....

But...... what about the realists?

Also a wondering thought comes to mind is: ........
is there such a thing as "healthy" pessimism?...

I don't know.... but thought I would share

Be well all.

Pessimist-thinks the worst but does not happen, pleasantly surprised lives longer life.

Optimist-thinks the best but does not happen, always disappointed lives shorter life.

I watched that show 'One foot in the grave' with Victor Meldrew and that man was one royal pain in the buttocks. Great English Series though.

So if being a pessimist means you live longer then I should live til I'm about 200 lols............ But It will be one very dreary life. Lucky I live on my own so I have no one around me to depress. Bahahaha

I read this somewhere before. It does make sense in a way...

An optimist are risk-takers, they are more likely to take on crazy stunts, adventures, do more things which put their life at risks. Whereas a pessimist are fearful and more likely take precaution on their health/safety before doing something. They spend as much time as they can being in a safe environment, like at home etc.

It's a pretty stupid study in my opinion.

I've heard that being crabby in a nursing home can possibly lead to getting better care......

I'm told that having anxiety, which makes me very pessimistic, causes stress, which can cause heart problems, cancer and other problems. So, they're saying I won't get these diseases, or I'll get them, but I'll overcome them, just to go through more misery?
