I have had issues with urine retention - and urologist had been trying to get me to take medication for it, but I did honestly try everything he gave me - and found something wrong with all of them.
Up till now I have been satisfied just using a catheter a few times a day (and measuring just how much was there) - but now I am no longer sure that's good enough. Now Flomax actually seemed to do the most good as far as forcing all you can to drain, what I didn't like about it was it made it imposable to become sexually aroused, but that I think I can at least minumize, and still get benefits from it by taking it once every other day instead of once a day (found that on a drug information site). But an even bigger issue I had with it, is increasing pain I already have in the left abdominal area. Without the flomax, it hurts pretty bad but not constantly, only about 2-3 days per week - with the Flomax, there is enough pain to be really annoying constantly an still get the spikes in pain 2-3 days a week. I do not have a pain management doctor yet - and I really don't think I am going to be able to work with one until a lot more is done with other issues...Well, if you could give me one I already know for like 10 years or so - short of that, it's Ts prob right now. So, I don't know...... ![]() Anyone....... ![]() |

Stated getting too nervous (pressure on the kidneys), so call and asked for the script, but I only talk to this guys recetionist, he just phoned it in to the pharmacy, and never called me at all.
Not that big of a deal, but I wish he had.. See, while 0.4mg is the standard starting dose for men, and you can go up to 0.8mg if you have to (no way do I!) - they do make a 0.2 capsule, those are used mainly to treat high blood pressure (if it's not too high) and Urine retention in Women. I would have rather had the 0.2mg capsules...Reason, first off how much I HATE the side effects, and to me it's logical to assume that a lower dose would mean at least no as bad side effects - and while some medications it seems to take an unusually high dose to do anything for me - there are also plenty that I am so sensitive to it surprises doctors that I get that big of an effect from so little. The thought is perhaps FloMax is one of the drugs I am piratically sensitive to. (according to what I have read, most of the side effects are way more pronounced than on most people) - and if that is the case 0.2mg may well be plenty - and if not, I could always take two capsule to get up to the 0.4mg if the 0.2mg did not help....... Sorry about the length, but any comment is fine - mostly wondering if anyone thinks there is anything wrong with this logic...I mean, I really HAT that stuff, but I dose do the most to help with the retention..... |

Can you call and leave a message for the doc with your questions? Will the receptionist relay that? Is it a splitable pill? I have to split some of my Moms pills and you can buy pill splitters.

As for cutting is in half - it's not a pill, it's a capsule. No not hard to take apart, but then it's all powder - and I don't have a scale that can measure that small of an amount (lowest amount I can weigh with what I have is 0.5grams) no to mention, even if I could get my hands a a scale that is accurate enough, where would I get empty capsules from to put the second half in? (yes I know an empty capsule would not really be something that is controlled, but I know of no place to get them). |

S much for that idea - Pain and all unpleasent side-effects returned, and, while it may have made urination more frequent, the actual retained amount remained about the same, so I see no point in continuing.
