I missed an important personal call last night because I didn't hear the phone ring while I was sleeping. I am hearing impaired, I wear hearing aids, but not at night. I had the phone on the night stand and I slept with one hearing aid in, so I could hear the phone

I'm looking online for a phone with an extra loud ringer and the huge difference in prices between those with extra loud ringers and those without (otherwise the same phone) is astounding - close to or more than $200.00!!

I'm frustrated, annoyed, and feel taken advantage of.

ETA: Wait, I'm finding more.

The expensive ones do not reflect quality.

My step dad is hearing impaired. He never answers the phone.
We have a Panasonic wireless phone. I think the ringer is pretty
loud.
I'm sorry you missed your important call. I hope you can call
them back if possible.

Echoes,
Consider a device that connects your phone to a bright light in your sleeping area. When the phone rings, the light turns on and off. I have not seen one of these but have read about them. Of course if the bright flashing light doesn't rouse you, it obviously won't help. A phone company representative might be able to help you with this.

There might be cellphone alarm clock apps that you can set to go off with the ringtone of your choice. Surely you can find loud ones online! Maybe you can find one that sounds like a battlefield (I thought of this because of a joke played on a military guy who hit a button on his computer and there were guns booming, and he fell to the floor, as his buddies laughed. No one was shooting, of course! But it might wake you up!).

I am also hearing impaired, and I only have a cellphone (no home phone/land line). In the past I have missed calls left, right and center due to not being able to hear my phone ring. But now I have a Blackberry and I find that even on the 'normal' volume setting I am able to hear it ring, sometimes even in public. I find quite often the volume range varies by manufacturer...get them to demonstrate it for you before buying if you choose to go that route...
