I have an exotic bird, a senegal parrot named Loki. I think all pets are cool, but many exotics should not be pets. Monkeys, for instance. They can be dangerous, and some people have all their teeth pulled out and sometimes cut off the monkey's fingertips to make the monkey safer to have, but that is deplorable and cruel to me. Venomous snakes are also not a good idea. Tigers, alligators and certain lizards are also not meant to be pets.

I have a krazee smart Bengal kitteh that I rescued. He was severely neglected and not socialized well, so reverted to as close to his ALC ancestory behavior as his little brain would let him. He is gorgeous but his behaviour has awful!

I loved that little sucker and committed to him, though. After 3 very hard years, painstaking efforts to help him, we finally have a pretty good relationship! he is more.domestic.kitteh now.as he was intended to be (the.woman that started the breed is.quite amazing and lovely and had very good intentions in her endeavors to save the alc. Jean Mill)

I must say though he can be (and has been) a handful. And he is over 3 generations removed from his alc ancestory.

I have an enormous respect and love for wildlife. After rescuing Krazee, the respect has only grown. I cannot imagine why anyone would be stupid enough to puurent a wild cat. It is terribly sad, selfish of the people doing it and generally does not end well. I think "exotics" should be able to live in their intended habitat. It really isnt fair to them to try to domesticate them. Poor things.

I love my Kitteh ... i still cant believe we made it this far!

Cut the monkeys fingertips off? Why would they do that? How does that make them safer to have?

It keeps them from scratching. For the record, I don't believe in declawing cats, either.

I have kept tons of different reptiles over the years and one tarantula who I named Denzel. Now, I have three cats, a budgie and a boa constrictor. Sadly, I am having to look for a new home for my boa because since I became pregnant with my second child I developed a fear out of nowhere towards him. I can't go near him! I love him to pieces but I just cannot face touching him. Even to the point that I am on edge when my husband unlocks the viv to feed him or clean him out etc.. I never had a fear of snakes before, I used to work in a reptile shop, two in fact, got bit plenty by various snakes some big some small and it never bothered me. Not even when I had a juvenile burm attached to my thumb! And she was a fair size even though juvenile. I still appreciate their beauty, but it's something I can't have in my home now makes me very sad.
