So, I'm looking at who's online and noticing that though there are 166 members online, only 2 of them are in my contacts and friends list (+ beside their name when they're online). I have 75 contacts and friends.

Makes me feel a bit weird that at any given time, this place which feels so "homey" and comfortable is still mostly those I don't particular know/interact with?

Always lots of lurkers on the internet. Lots of members here, and lots of forums. Lots of forums I never even go to. There could be 100 people there right now, and I will never see their stuff nor they mine.

You know I think its just because people want to be anonymous and want to be on their own when they are on this site.

Me personally, I have a lot of friends on my list but I don't interact with them all the time. Mostly because I lose track of them, I have been away for a while, or they are just off doing their own thing.

I think this place is so "homey" and comfortable because we are free to interact or not interact whenever we want

Hey Perna! We are the oldies round here! I don't know about you but I even have a 'friend' on my friends list who passed away some time ago. There is no way I will strike her off as a friend. I guess about half of my friends list are people who just kind of passed through, they are staying on my friends list in case they come back. PC feels like home because it just is!

Heaps of people use this site, from all over the world, for heaps of different reasons - not everyone you will get along with, nor will you meet them all.
