((((Choc)))) thank you for posting. I have been keeping up with the GMO matter and also Monsanto debacle. It is so important we are aware of these things. I have extreme food sensitivities and this type of awareness has shed light on some of the reasons as to WHY I could be so sensitive.

indeed..it was quite the reality check. seems like unless you grow your own vegetables you can't escape the chemicals. i was also shocked when i read how kids nowadays are exposed to far more food colorings than 50 years ago. no wonder more and more young people have weight problems and are diagnosed with allergies, ADHD etc.

If possible buy organic.
European meat is produced to substantially higher standards than the beef from the cows on that site. |

Really about the ONLY way to get good food anymore is to grow it yourself..(Well MAYBE if you buy it directly from the guy that did - as in go to a farm - not so called "farmers markets" I mean just some independent guy growing it for himself, and for sale for cash only right there (I would even say pick it yourself) - but even then, he probably used chemical fertilizers and pesticides.....

We garden organically in my community garden. My partner and I are in the throes of planning a system whereby we are gardening/planning the space more efficiently so as to have more food available more consistently year-round. Unfortunately, being as poor as we are, we don't have a lot of choice over what we eat. What I enjoy about the city I live in is that there are many initiatives built around organizing healthy food co-ops and kitchens and gardens in some of the most poverty-stricken areas of the city and there are so many community gardens and other programs fostering education about food sovereignty and the source and reality of food production. Reading 'Animal, Vegetable, Miracle' by Barbara Kingsolver was an inspiration to me. It's a travesty what's being done worldwide to food, land and resources.
