My whole family is in law enforcement, my brother just joined the cadet program. I tried it out, but only lasted 5 weeks out of 6 weeks of training. But that was while heavily medicated. I am not interested in law enforcement though.

Why??? Are LEO's any different than the rest of us? Most of us are wary of cops to some degree. With good reason.

I'm not in law enforcement, but almost all the officers I've met through the years have been professional, intelligent and courteous. Most of us appreciate your dedication and willingness to protect the public. We don't tell you often enough: THANK YOU!

I would assume this is a job that is very mentally stressful? Maybe someone to relate to on a professional level?

Why are most of us wary of cops? I am not and would presume that anyone who has nothing to hide would not be wary either.

Just some food for thought.

KnightsCorner, I am not in law enforcement but am studying Criminal Justice with a Cognate in Criminal Psychology. I plan on getting my Masters in Social Work and help juveniles who are caught in the court system. I wouldn't mind picking your brain on the law enforcement aspect.

I, too, would like to thank you and all who serve for your dedication to your communities.

George, I used to have an on-line friend (we lived on different continents) who had been in law enforcement. The profession is EXTREMELY stressful. It's helpful to be able to talk to others who have had similar experiences. My friend was struggling with PTSD related to stopping a suicide by cop situation. I don't think most of us have been through something like that.

And I have to say that people having the attitude you express "wary of cops to some degree. With good reason." contributes to the problems they have.

We are all here to support each other regardless. From my experience here we don't usually discuss professions just mental health in general. One human to another, no need for details. Just my humble opinion.

i've actually met at least 1 nice policeman- still pretty weary of them myself though.
